Skyfall Is Fading

Here's the recording from my closing set at beats&such festival this past weekend. The set was taking over from a techhouse act and so the mix eases into psytech, peaks on the more techno side and closes off with the beautiful new remix of one of my all time favourite tracks @smilkmusic's Secret Friend by the incredibly talented @axonmusica. The crowd then asked for an encore and I obliged, but I edited out the silence and left the encore in.

Digital Structures proudly presents Eucalyptych, our first feature compiled by ZigMon, the founder of Euca Music, and Bassic Records.

This complete collection of progressive house, smooth techno, and uncategorizable gems paint the aura of the magnificent eucalyptus trees that encompass the heart of the Australian festival scene.

Eucalyptych is a response against the normalized order of the music industry, crumbling the fabricated borders. By inviting the owner of a label to compile a release for a label that is not their own, we can deepen the connection, collaboration, and strengthen the sound.

Oh boy, we've been super excited to announce this week's SoundCast guest, the king of phat as, falafel tech ⭐️. 

Our man Diamandy has been an elite producer and a pillar in the scene for over the last 10 years, gaining respect amongst his peers as well as winning our hearts over with his swanked out, tripped out versions of 4x4 dance music 🎹

Born in Russia, bred in Israel and currently running a muck in Sweden, Diamandy's music is a superb, clinical display of this culture cross-over, making him one of the most unique sound explorers that we know. His rare production styles can be heard through unforgettable releases on Digital Structures, Techgnosis Records, IbogaTech and even his own label, Friday Lights Music 🍃. 

You lot are in for a mouth watering exhibition of tasty, progressive tech, with a few unreleased bangers in there that'll have your feet mopping the lounge room floor 💃🏾.

Excited for this week's guest to be featuring on the SixthSense Australia platform. Fresh of the back of his epic album 'Invader' on Bassic Records, Samwise has decided to grace our sound-waves and treat your ears to celebrate this monumental release.

No stranger to a having a sick one on the dance-floor, our Samwise was heavily involved in the old school Melbourne hard trance scene a fair yonk ago. His fascination of music production stemmed from this as he was clearly influenced by various sub-genres of energetic dance music and the Australian festival scene. 

The last couple years has seen Sam become a source of quality techno wall-slappers as he has made a name a name for himself in our dense and vibrant Melbourne underground scene. With releases on Recovery Collective, Oxytech, Feather Print & Bassic Records he has pushed the envelope with the unique and twisted sub-genre of techno he creates and has inspired his peers around him. 

This SoundCast is an accurate representation of his deep, driving production styles. All tied in with a psychedelic twist of course ;)

SoundCast #24 - Samwise (AUS)

We are absolutely thrilled to be revisiting one of the most iconic label tracks of the calendar year - the instant-classic 'Brainchild' by label OG's Luis M and MYDÄ gets the deluxe remix treatment from a host of top-shelf talents in Jossie Telch, Matt Dwellers, AXON and Biomass! Spanning wide across the Techgnosis sonic spectrum, three fresh interpretations elevate what is already an apex predator-level original track to new heights, setting the stage for yet another stellar scene release.

The marquee original track, having been written a year ago in MYDÄ's Toronto-based studio, is a super example of sonic synergy, combining the grit and chunk of the preeminent prog-tech duo's unique style with Luis M's groovy tech rhythms and production know-how. Tried and tested on the dance floors as well as over lockdown live-streams, this can't miss tune has already cemented itself as a bar-setting example of proper progressive, psychedelic techno. 

Mexico-based progressive master Jossie Telch is no stranger to working with the original artists - we last saw this superstar producer giving the remix treatment to Luis M's 'Euphoria' back in 2016, and who can forget his 'track-of-the-year' collaboration with MYDÄ, 'Atomicus' from 2018? Well, we are happy to welcome him back into the Techgnosis fold as he puts his singularly unique, dance floor-focused spin on the whole affair.

Last summer we debuted EPs from 2 incredibly talented Australian artists in Biomass and AXON, so it is with great excitement that we unveil their phenomenal collaborative remix of 'Brainchild'. The deeper, more introspective side of the original track is explored as the producers from down under beckon the listener to dive into a hypnotic state, and get lost in the music. This is an absolute treasure of a track.

Lastly, we are pumped for the triumphant label return of the minimal tech maestro known as Matt Dwellers - this well-known purveyor of the melodic and hypnotic side of techno music brings his expertise to the affair, elevating this already killer single/EP to new heights. His signature weaponized, chunky tech style has been missed, however you can look forward to more from Dwellers on Techgnosis in the very near future. Stay tuned, true believers!

✦ Breakdown ✦ 

Capping off this crazy year with an original release on one of my favourite labels - Recovery Collective. Honoured to have been chosen by the lads behind the label, their help, advice and support throughout these past few months has been nothing short of exceptional. 

'No Tears In The Playground' is the most personal release from my end so far. I dove deep within my emotions to bring out what I thought was the best sonic description of my first ever experience in the bush with a bunch of strangers listening to soundscapes I hadn't heard before. The experience in itself was life-changing and has led me to pursue a career in music, events and all things doof. Many of you might know me as a psychedelic music lover and purveyor, although I do hold a big soft spot for progressive house with lush, melodic influences. Hours and hours listening to Funkform on repeat definitely shows in this number, so a big thanks to Funkform for being  an inspiration to a rookie like my self :)
