Physical Therapy has as many vibes as he does aliases. You never really know what you're going to get from his sets—you can probably count on a bit of UK garage and some breakbeats, but beyond that, it's a free-for-all. He's gone through phases ranging from DIY pop edits to grayscale Berlin techno to all the fantastic and unpredictable music on his label Allergy Season to his latest EP of vocal-heavy 2-step tracks, part of a recent move towards more emotional dance music that he says captures his "twee" side. If there's anyone that truly believes in the power of crying on the dance floor, it's him. 

He's an expert at themed mixes, pulling together loosely categorized sections of his vast and sometimes hilarious collection. (Other sets, like his revered Honcho Campout recording, are gloriously all over the place.) But for his RA Podcast he's gone straight for the dance floor, choosing the kind of thing he would play at a club rather than one of his NTS sets. It's typically era-spanning and adventurous, yet woven together with an expert touch, running from an underrated Texas dubstep label (Pushing Red) to old-school IDM to vintage Miss Kittin and even an obscure (or just forgotten) turn-of-the-millennium cover of "How Soon Is Now" that would only really sound right in his hands.

"My aim was to make something that defines where I'm at as an artist and with music today. It's downtempo, sexy, swamp, slick, reflective, pretty, and fun. It was recorded with a Varia RDM20 rotary mixer. Intended to be played late, after a party, or with a lucky person one night. You'll find sounds from South America, the UK, Berlin, France, Jamaica, Switzerland, Ukraine, and many more. 

The past two years have been about discovering new sounds and revisiting some old ones. I was raised in an uncanny Christian group in Savannah, Georgia, that restricted me from a lot in life. One of the only liberating things about that group was my exposure to the music and dance of other cultures. The Guatemalan and Mexican families taught me about salsa, meringue, and bachata. My cousins from North Carolina are black, they showed me house music. The soft nods to my love for these early introductions and moments are in this mix. Blended with the reality of what I hear now." 

NSA (Cameron Allen), a multidisciplinary artist known for his art and DJ work, emerged from coastal Savannah Georgia to arrive in Atlanta where he now resides. The swampy marshland landscape of his early years sets a clear narrative for an eerie and unconventional force laced with an upbringing around latin dance, ghettotech, and electro-house music. Since his first breakthrough release praised by Pitchfork at the age of 19, NSA has spun for queer spearheads such as Deep South and Honcho, co-founded the Hz Like Hell brand and Stroke parties, and is a driving force of the Atlanta underground with his infamous after parties. His penchant for challenging and strange sounds keeps the floor hooked.

A little about this mix: I recently played Wrecked in April and my set wasn’t recorded, so I decided to reconstruct some of my favorite moments from the night. Lately I’ve been trying to piece together my love of different genres when I play out: leftfield techno, polyrhythmic sounds, post-dubstep, more classic 4x4 techno and house rhythms, and my love of 80s synthy tracks. It’s not always easy for DJs to express all sides of our musical tastes, and it’s definitely still a work in progress for me. Wrecked felt like a perfect time to experiment more with weaving between many genres. I always try to record mixes in one take, so forgive any minor bumps and bruises along the way in this recording 💖. May is AAPI Heritage month, so this mix is also dedicated to all the other Asian DJs holding it down and doing amazing things around the world. 

 T.Wan is a Brooklyn-based DJ with deep origins in Seattle. Her perceptive ear for trippy techno and bassy, polyrhythmic tracks captivated listeners at Honcho Campout and has since earned her opportunities to play at notable NYC venues like Nowadays, Basement, and Good Room. She has a monthly show on Bristol-based Noods Radio, where she’s been a resident for the past 3 years.
