I’ve been preparing this mix for almost 3 months & had Benas chasing me, for not being able to deliver it. Idea was on my mind, but the DT Camp happened, then blues after that, but finally found some strenght to do it. Even though I’d built the playlist for it for a while, decided to go all in and record it with the same approach as I would play in the party. Some old timers, some fresh, some unreleased. All music is made by artists I admire and look up to. No plesers, no cheesy tracks. Fuck you all tho who plays the shittiest tracks in clubs just for the insta stories mention.

Hope it gets you going while you wait for THE GUY to arrive or keeps you busy during the home party.

Clap! and Okmalumkoolkat produced by Cid Rim. Then it's classic Jeru getting the Sabre treatment, a track from the new Busdriver album 'Perfect Hair', Fracture remixing The 2 Bears and Yellowman from 1983. Solid Steel (3rd October) It's a pleasure to welcome Rob da Bank to Solid Steel. He was at Radio 1 for over a decade before moving to 6 Music, the founder of Bestival and Sunday Best Recordings and played at the Solid Steel club night in 2004. This is what he said about his mix;
‘I get pretty bored DJing if i can only play one style, which you can definitely tell in this mix. It's more of a collage of old and new tracks I might play as a warm up set than a seamless mix. i actually much prefer being the warm up dj and being able to play loads of styles. The pressure's off and you can go off kilter. The trip takes in vintage electronica from the likes of Mixmaster Morris, Aphex and Squarepusher, some old trip hoppy bits, brand spanking new electronic fire from Redinho, Bonobo and Clark and a few classics from the likes of DJ Mink and LFO - its a mix for a boring car journey or a night drinking whisky round a campfire…it starts off slow and noodly and somehow ends up pounding and fist pumping…like all the best parties.’

...yeah so reality streams into ayour mind via your five senses, but it’s not reality in its totality, it’s just those parts of reality that evolution has deemed necessary for you to recognise for the survival of your DNA, like you can’t see gamma rays, but they’re out there and they’re reality too. Anyway you recognise this vanishingly small fraction of what actually exists, but then this sliver of reality itself is warped by your perception, that’s the process of attributing meaning to what it is you’re recognising. See really you see you’re just a hyper-aware monkey scared to the verge of insanity by the fact that you can recognise that you’re alive and you see your Self as separate from your body. The reaction to this is to create patterns, to give meaning, because without meaning we’d all just be nihilists and we’d never get anywhere. So this process of giving meaning to everything that’s going on ‘out there’ beyond the dome of you skull we call that culture, it’s basically perceptual conditioning. Culture is what happens when a group of hyper-aware monkeys live together ascribing essentially random meanings to the tiny portion of reality they can sense so that they can get on with each other, find existential peace, sleep at night, have kids, not jump off cliffs that sort of thing. But this process of conditioning it’s so normal to us because it’s hard wired into our very being that we don’t even realise its going on. It’s like we’re living mutually affirmed bubbles we’ve blown for ourselves, like giant cooing super-babies. We call these bubbles civilisations, the values and meanings that underpin everything we do and why we do it, but we don’t think about them and just take all this stuff at face value. We call it common sense, there’s no such thing as common sense. It was common sense to worship Jupiter once, or keep slaves or not let women vote. Common sense is just the stuff you don’t think about because you just take it for granted without ever wondering why...
Ultradyne consists of two anthropoids, one from Detroit the other from the Netherlands, we won’t reveal their names because that’s not the point. Ultradyne have been making dark, deep, intense and in-your-face electro tracks since the mid-90s, with their first relase, ‘E.Coli’ appearing on the legendary Warp Records. Their label, ‘Pi-Gao Movement’ appeared in 1999 with the release of their first album, Antarctica. 2013 saw the reinvigoration of the Ultradyne project with fresh releases and bookings. This recording is taken from a session in Berlin’s Suicide Circus, (Alone? Bored? Desperate? Suicide!). Ultradyne: A point. A circle. A wheel. A wagon. A car. An airplane. Spacecraft. Time travel. The transformation of an idea. Conceptual evolution realised in this case via audio-visual manifestations.
