Our latest podcast comes courtesy of Anatolian Weapons, an extended trip through contemporary underground electronic sounds combined, layered and re-represented with his own unique flavour. An artist with a considerable discography, Anatolian Weapons is the latest pseudonym of a producer unafraid to take influences from a range of sources in the ongoing realisation of his own sound. We had the opportunity to ask Anatolian Weapons about his background, his approach to music and his recent release on Dekmantel.

In this day and age, when the dancefloor has lost its importance not only for party-goers but also for DJ’s who try to convey emotions and feelings through their music, putting together a mixtape is nowadays a tough intellectual and imaginative task. However, electro music is one that allows the artist to faithfully express such emotional content and create a set with certain expressive coherence. And that is exactly what Betamax -Madrid-born Beltran Lauroba- has done here. An artist that was part of the Spanish rave scene and who has always been a supporter of analogue formats. On this occasion, the podcast has been divided into four segments in which the selected tracks along with exquisite mash-ups and transitions offer a variety of moods that create a very specific range of sensations: quietness, vitality, uncertainty, and powerfulness.

Hey Lovers, Fans and Haters, 

„When The Circus Comes To Town“ is a track I made in 2019. It’s about some of the things that went wrong (in my opinion) in the so called Techno scene, before the pandemic forced us to press the Pause button. 

When listening to it now, it maybe sounds kinda strange. On the other side, I think the risk of falling back into bad Business Techno habits once the situation is under control is quite high. 
I personally still hope some things will change in a positive way, 
for artists, venues, labels and music fans. 

„When The Circus Comes To Town“ was supposed to come out on an amazing label from France. I was super excited about this. 

But then my external external HD broke. Even though I was able to restore some stuff, a lot of files remain broke.  
Among those destroyed files were also many many files from 
my DAW, so a lot of unreleased and unfinished stuff I made in the past years 
is probably lost forever. 

That sucks, but I’m gonna record new music - for the French label and for you.

So I decided to upload the (of course unmastered) Mp3 of „When The Circus Comes To Town“ to my SoundCloud and make it a free download for you out there.

The young and talented Istanbul-born artist flexes her triple-threat skills as a singer, musician, and DJ with a master in sound design as a technical foundation.
