Marguerite Records is thrilled to announce its first release of 2023!
MRG014 a New Wave, EBM and Electronic compilation composed of six tracks.

The side one features artists who already appeared in Marguerite discography. A1 opens up with ‘Noi Non Ci Saremo’ a bruise of nostalgic, new-romantic and dreamy 80s vibes from Diana Berti - @violet-poison, followed up by Black Dot’s ‘Recurrent Disorder’ with occult spoken-word intonation of @yasssa reminding of John Balance, over acid bassline, electro beat and syncopated noises by @allegedwitches. ‘Unknown Faces’ close up the A side - an EBM track with a killer raw beat and distorted bass ready for sweaty dancefloors from the label heads duo @bianconegativo. 
Flip side is unwrapped by one of the synth pioneer and UK based artist @timothy-j-fairplay with ‘Love Boat For Four’ that drags you straight into a sci-fi movie fiction with the 8 bit electronic synths. B2 is Highest Bidder from Harlem Electronics, a seductive minimal rhythm with a dark undertone. The journey ends with ‘Svart Magi’ an hardware industrial jam by the Swedish producer @celldod.

Hambourg’s electro duo Fallbeil composed by Wosto and Kluentah, is still pretty unknown despite they’ve been releasing a bunch of EP and a couple of LP on label like Mannequin, Killekill sub-label Boidae or New York Haunted and more recently on their own label Teerpappe to name a few. Wosto, long time Macadam Mambo’s collaborater (Danzas Electricas vol. 2 & 3), sent us demos of what sounds very like « what Drexciya would realease on Bunker Records », a compilation of irresistible dark atmospheres slow electro tunes with very raw textures, complemented by few little skits to generate a brilliant album around the story of the Mockturtle. It’s rought as it should be!

Sergey Komarov, Vlad Dobrovolski, Ilya Sadovsky, and Alexey Grachev, an improvisational quartet known as kurvenschreiber, fuel their vintage synthesizers with homemade solar batteries and record their sessions on reel-to-reel tapes before they can turn to dust.

In their performances, they utilize generators, radios, meteorological equipment, and pre-recorded tape loops. This niche approach allows them to create an illusion of cinematic force in sound, where the sound itself becomes the main character. The power of their sonic interpretation stems from the virtuosity of juggling resonant images, offering the audience a chance to immerse in a unique audio-visual space.

The most compelling aspect of "Licht Ausgang" is not the quartet's technological tricks or references to their deep archive of tapes, but rather its restrained emotional undertone. The precise mood is as elusive as the autumn smell of leaves, yet it is simultaneously euphoric, whimsical, and grotesquely sweet.

Nonetheless, the album can hardly be labeled as mere pastoral nostalgia, as there's a mystic current present in these tracks, constantly leading kurvenschreiber down strange and unexpected paths.

Kurvenschreiber - Licht Ausgang [udacha017] LP12"

Devon Rexi return with Mini-LP “Biya Ba Man”, a new and improved take on the no wave steppers and post punk grooves of their debut “Tambal EP”.

The five track Mini-LP sees the band expand to a quintet, with originators Nic Mauskovic (drums and vocals) and Nushin Naini (bass and vocals) joined by Tobias Jansen on turntables, Lyckle de Jong on synths and effects and Goya van der Heyden on percussion.

The extra players collaborate to send Devon Rexi’s sound in new directions, amplifying the already extra-dimensional vibe. Synths and vinyl manipulation render a trip hop vibe to the post punk brew, reminding of zoned-out jams like Maxinquaye, or those heady early Mo’Wax.

Opening track “Sjikamo” sets the tone at a deconstructed hip hop tempo, samples spliced up like a classic Celluloid album. “Fargh Nimikoone” ups the pace with a funky 135 bpm lean, and Nushin’s harmonized vocal sounding ever more alien over the conga rhythm. “Marde Pir” closes the first side at another beatdown tempo, the drums flexing like factory pistons. 

The B side fires up with “Biya Ba Man Biya” - a proper steppers bounce, Nushin’s farsi singalong chorus is as catchy as it’s ever been. The Mini-LP concludes with “Koja Raftan” bringing plenty of Bomb Squad energy, crescendoing in fine maximal percussive style. 

It’s no wave, but not as we know it. With new members bringing effects and collage elements to the spacious minimal wave core, there’s plenty of avenues for future formations of Devon Rexi to explore.
