ALL NINGUNO SETS <3

Was going through some of the first sets I recorded in 2006-2008 after a friend sent them to me.  This was when I used to play Drum and Bass under the alias Apt Pupil. This was the sound I was playing in Leeds at parties like Sub Dub/Momentum/ Metropolis/Central Beatz and every week on Frequency FM :) thought it would be nice to share one.

Ketikoti translated from sranan tongo to english is broken chain and manspasi dey means emancipation day. A surinamese annual celebration on July 1st each year. 

July 1st 1863 (officially 1873) is when slavery was abolished in Surinam. A day where freedom of our ancestors was finally realized. Those who have suffered so much for us to live free now. 

Freedom and peace is something we kindly consider normal but even now in 2022 we have modern slavery of the uyguhrs in China. Thousands of migrant workers dead in Qatar for the world championship of football, Palestina who suffer from apartheid until this day and war in Ukraine which all of a sudden came really close. 

Freedom is something we are blessed with. We should not take this for granted and enjoy life as much as possible. Be kind and good to people around you, it might be a small thing for you to do but it can mean SO MUCH for others.
