Sol Selectas Records specializes in deep tribal dance music, mixing folkloric sounds and ancient rhythms with modern electronic grooves. Balearic is a feeling – and Jose Padilla embodies that feeling.
The hugely influential DJ soundtracked the 1990s with his sunset sets at the Café Del Mar, playing a selection of widescreen electronica, dubbed out ambient and the likes of Penguin Café Orchestra to signal the end of one sun-drenched day and the start of another hedonistic Ibiza night. He changed things forever.
Since then, he sold six million copies of the game-changing Café del Mar Vol 1–6, released two albums, remixed countless tracks and been introduced to youngsters conceived while their parents listened to one of his world-famous tapes.

Hoomidaas Records is the record label of the DJ/artist/producer/multi-instrumentalist Armen Miran along with his partner Christina Acobiance. The word Hoomidaas is a stylized acronym for the phrase “who made us”, paying homage to how past narratives shape the present moment. Armen states, "I would not be who I am if it wasn’t for my past." This shows that he holds a deep respect for experiential knowledge above all else and intends to capture that through this label venture. Furthermore, when isolated as “hoom” in Armenian it means “raw” and when artists are invited to be a part of Hoomidaas releases Armen asks them to imagine what the raw part of the sun (the other side of the sun that we cant see) would look like. He loves to challenge their perspectives and hear what experiential wisdom emanates from his fellow creators. 
 
The music, artists, and artwork/design are a huge priority for Armen. His mission is to hand-craft every aspect of Hoomidaas adding to its memorable intrigue via his experiences travelling and playing shows. He tells us that, "a few years ago I played a 12 hour set surrounded by the most beautiful artwork all over the walls of the space. That space is called Rambalkoshe. Since then we have been collaborating with Rambalkoshe and they’re who made our vision and art design come to life for many of the illustrations associated with the label." The synchronistic nature of the partnerships he embarks on are a strong indicator that intuition combined with drive can take you somewhere truly magical. 
 
Currently the label works with a handful of artists. They have each of their artists release a mix on their mix series called “Midaas” which comes out every two months. Additionally the label releases bi-annual compilations, one in the summer called “Hoom Side of the Sun” and one for the winter called “Hoom Side of the Moon”.

After 15 years of forward-thinking musical fusion, Boozoo Bajou returned in 2009 with their most sophisticated album on !K7 as yet: ‘Grains’. Parallel Florian Seyberth – one half of the musical duo – has just completed another DJ-tour through the US and Asia playing clubs from San Francisco to Jarkarta and alongside the Studio 54 DJ-legend Francois Kervorkian, who has invited him to his “Deep Space”-Club-Night in NY several times. Also selected gigs this autumn saw them perform sharing the stage with such diverse musicians as Mulatu Astatke and Jazzanova.

Boozoo Bajou´s producers Florian Seyberth and Peter Heider are already widely celebrated around the globe for their unique blend of modern electronica with blues, jazz, soul, latin-music and dub.

Boozoo Bajou earned attention with their irresistible breakthrough single ‘Night Over Manaus’ in 1998, their 2001 released debut album ‘Satta’ and it ´s 2005 sequel ‘Dust My Broom’. They also demonstrated their excellent and wide-ranging musical taste on two excellent mix- compilations, ‘Juke Joint’ and ‘Juke Joint II’ on !K7. With more than 100.000 albums sold and their music being featured on over 300 compilations, Boozoo Bajou have managed to capture a wide audience with their individualistic approach to modern music.

In addition, Florian and Peter have remixed or collaborated with a diverse range of major artists. These include hip-hop superstar Common, Mary J. Blige, Jazz legend Pharoah Sanders, New Zealand’s finest Fat Freddy’s Drop, Songwriter Josh Rouse, Rapper Oh No from the Stones Throw camp, former Motown writer-producer and blaxploitation soundtrack legend Willie Hutch, and the veteran Louisiana singer-songwriter Tony Joe White, author of the all-time classic ‘Rainy Night In Georgia’. 

Deeply rooted in dance-culture, Boozoo Bajou are well known around the globe for their inspired DJ-sets. While current live-activities involve a full band celebrating a more organic and jazzy approach to their unique music, Florian Seyberth´s DJ-activities are guaranteed to fill the floors. He started running his own club in 1996 and DJs around the world. Florian can be found behind the decks on his own, or with his musical partner Peter Heider or even alongside their long-time MC “T-Weed” from the Rocker Hifi Camp. 

With his sophisticated mix of techno, dub, house, neo-disco, downbeats, hip hop and soulful tunes, he is one of the few DJs worldwide, who creates a fusion of all these genres and sounds, that not only has a red thread running all throughout the set, but also will build a positive tension with the listeners and will produce a coherent musical narrative. Playing huge festival like Big Chill and Coachella various times, Florian has gained an international reputation and has become an ambassador for the modern European music-scene. 

Reaching their next level, Boozoo Bajou´s evolution is ongoing, so is their mission. The presently released remix-collection “Dust my Grains” (!K7) and the DJ Mix CD “Coming Home” (Stereo Deluxe) are their next releases in the first half of 2010. Both compilation-albums represent the innovative electronic-music side of Boozoo Bajou.

In a time where much of the world is confined and fearful comes Thievery Corporation co-founder Eric Hilton’s first solo record “Infinite Everywhere”, an elegant exploration of inner space that will leave listeners feeling replenished and centered. While Thievery painted with a broad musical brush, genre hopping across (and sometimes within) over 20 plus years of albums and live work, Hilton’s solo debut is distilled, focused, and more personal.  "I’m kind of the drum & bass guy in Thievery – I’ve never been much of a player of melodic instruments. “Infinite Everywhere” is me challenging myself to play more. I started work on a laptop and cheap midi controller; when my engineer Igor Garnier heard the rough tracks, he encouraged me to play more,” says Hilton. “I’ve always been a bit of studio rat, but I've found I really enjoy making music on my own, late night with just me and a keyboard – I’m kind of hooked on that. On this record I played nearly every instrument, which I’ve never done before.”

“Infinite Everywhere” was recorded at The Winter Palace in Washington, DC from September 2019 through March 2020. The album title and concept predate the current global crisis, but are remarkably prescient, conveying feelings of melancholia and optimism in equal measure. And while Hilton has incorporated exotic musical ingredients from diverse cultures on his previous work with Thievery Corporation, “Infinite Everywhere” is decidedly more European in feel. This influence came from an unexpected place, Hilton explains: “I took a tongue in cheek influence from prog rock – the best elements of it anyway. Prog too often goes off in a direction I don’t like. But some more mellow progsongs aren’t necessarily “rock” – at their best they’re explorations of space, organic, with truly gifted playing. That part of the genre appeals to me.” 

The meditative title track and first single, “Infinite Everywhere”, personifies Hilton’s humanistic and exploratory ethos. “Infinite Everywhere” is so simple, but it always gets me into my chakra mode – there’s a realignment that comes when listening to it,” he says. The song isn’t just a doorway to the album, but a potent rhythmical mantra for willing ears. “When I meditate, I become vapor, flowing free around the earth or the atmosphere – I let myself explore in my mind, pop up on a Tokyo Street, then in Prague, or on the Ganges in India. My mind decides on the time and space. “Infinite Everywhere" represents that experience of doing that."

But don’t make the mistake of thinking that descriptors like “exploratory” and “meditative” are code for a sleepy record. As an album, “Infinite Everywhere” is the ne plus ultra of elegant groove, which Hilton has been distilling for over two decades. It kicks, and it sounds amazing. “In Thievery, we always wanted to make music that was electronic but sounded real, -that’s what I’m into. I love making real sounding things with an unusual process.”  We are living in strange times – perhaps the strangest in our lifetimes. The album’s second single, “This Strange Daze” featuring Puma Ptah, is something of an outlier, being the only song on the record with vocals, and more of a Jamaican feel. “Strange Daze” was a strong instrumental sketch, but something in me said it would be more powerful
with a vocal. I’ve been working with the incredible Puma Ptah for many years, he’s done some tracks and toured with Thievery and is the main singer for The Archives. He’s such a great writer, so I hit him up to collaborate on the track. He wrote the song about week one of this current crisis, riffing off the title, powerful lyrics about anxiety and worry eating at you, how to deal with it and cope. It occupies a very special place on the record, another point of connection.”
