Created using a groove box, stand-alone synth and mastered on a computer.  Got to get a remix.  The mastering drove me nuts.   Getting it right on the groove box level will not achieve the mix that I want.  I don’t want to use a daw.

I received the great honor and I am extremely grateful that the great soprano Mrs. Gabriele Weinfurter - Zwink recorded the solo of my Ave-Maria and that MyOpus (Gerhard Richter) mixed it so beautifully with the choir.

Ave Maria, gratia plena;
Dominus tecum;
benedicta tu in mulieribus,
et benedictus fructus ventris tui, Jesus.
Sancta Maria, Mater Dei,
ora pro nobis peccatoribus
nunc et in hora mortis nostrae. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace.

Calm Before - a powerful, yet quiet track with a nice baseline in the back and soft but fat drums. This track moves forward in a certain way, but remains rather static in its basic mood. Hopeful but decisive in focus: the Beat. I wish you a lot of fun diving into the SKAYBA sound world.

The construction of this one is quite minimal, just two elements. Even though the track was performed and recorded in a single take it does have two distinct phases. 

The opening "Splash of colour" section was achieved with a simple VCV Rack virtual modular patch and a lot of experimental modulation, I used some external compression to even it out somewhat. With the modulation dialled back to little or nothing the same patch becomes a backdrop for the "Petals drifting" conclusion. For this I live improvised sparce single notes; very simple VCV patch piped to the Blackhole reverb from Eventide.

Dilay Doğanay was born in Izmir, Turkey, in 1999.
Her music evolves in an effort to understand the theatricality of sound and implicit and explicit communication. Her pieces, which she created inspired by language, literature, oral and written communication, sometimes include texts she wrote. She has won, 2024 Ö1 Kompositions Preis.
She studied composition in İzmir. Recently finished her Master’s Degree in Kunst Universitat Graz with Franck Bedrossian. Now based in Paris and studying at CNSMDP. Her music has been performed by different ensembles such as Ensemble Intercontemporain, RIOT, Neue Vocalsolisten Stıttgart, Schallfeld Ensemble, IEMA, hand werk, Orbis, Next Ensemble; in different parts of the world: Italy, Germany, Austria, Turkey, Ukraine, Netherlands, Switzerland, Colombia, France (...)
