As a child, Rimjickles’ parents influenced his diverse taste in music. He grew up listening to everything from classic/alt/thrash rock to hip-hop. Being Chicago-based, he also heavily listened to freestyle. 

After being introduced to new genres from his music-torrenting cousin, his music tastes continued to evolve. 

During high school, Rimjickles stumbled upon Rusko’s “Terminator” in a YouTube compilation video and it changed his entire music perception of music. He became obsessed with 808’s. 

Although he loved 808’s, he began to gravitate toward chiller sounds—especially after discovering Tipper and the IDM genre. 

While some styles felt stale to him, the one thing he didn’t grow out of was digital “crate digging.”

Today, Rimjickles adopts a DJ’ing style that is focused on dubstep, halftime and DnB, but his diverse love of music continues to influence his progressive sound.

Vitaliy Dubree’s new album Ratio et Caritas finds the Chernogolovka-based producer stepping outside his familiar dub techno framework into a more exploratory electronic space. Known for his releases on Leipzig’s Insectorama, Dubree shifts focus here toward intelligent electronica with clear traces of Berlin School sequencing and electro-inspired rhythm design. The record explores the balance between structure and emotion, through precise sound design, pulsing low-end movement, and melodic phrasing that gradually builds narrative tension.

While still grounded in the spacious atmospheres and delay drenched textures of dub, Ratio et Caritas feels more introspective and narrative driven than Dubree’s earlier output. Each track carries subtle references to Soviet era sci-fi films, weaving archival fragments into the mix to create a sense of cultural memory and modest futurism. The result is an album that bridges studio precision with emotional resonance, less a functional dance record, more a focused study in texture, pacing, and the intersection of human and cosmic scale.

Elevate

It was really cool to incorporate my Mongolian heritage into the music through the use of the morin khuur (the Mongolian fiddle) played by my long time family friend Khongr, a very talented multi instrumentalist. Also, the traditional Mongolian long song singing style was sung by Suvda, transcending us further into the worldly composition. Suvda has performed at a few of the Kalmyk Youth Coalition events in the past, playing a crucial role in preserving the Mongolian culture in our community. The fusion of the traditional elements and modern production was something that Mike @thebusinessmusic and I utilized to capture the textures and atmosphere in this composition. The song is about the massive global shift in everything that is happening right now. It is a vulnerable space for all of us and it is important to cultivate love and compassion during these chaotic times. Stay soft and strong, everyone! We got this. ❤️
