The Leipzig duo Dimer is composed of Fabian Adams on saxophone and Jan-Einar Groh on drums. On this album, each track is built from succinct elements. Whether it is melody, timbre or rhythm, each one is introduced with care and then blossoms in the long run.

Dimer - Setting 2_1

This is a refurbished recording of a set I played in June 2022 for the closing of the 36th Croatian Youth Salon exhibition in front of the Meštrović Pavilion, one of the most monumental modernist buildings in the Balkans. Today a leading art gallery in Croatia, Meštrović's building was once both a functioning mosque and a Yugoslav socialist revolution museum, so this mix — by any means applicable — is a testament to this history, blending the East and West, tradition and posterity.

Originally commissioned by @movement-radio-athens and produced by Onassis Stegi under @toumbaa's residency.
