We’re proud to welcome this week one of UK club music’s true originals to our mix series: Pinch.

Known as a pioneer of dubstep: the sound that sparked one of the biggest waves of musical creativity ever seen in the UK, Pinch began Subloaded in Bristol back in 2004, which was the first dedicated dubstep and grime night outside of FWD>> in London. To this day the impact of the party still ripples through Bristol's bass community. 

Techno’s endless permutations are as much an inspiration as dub in Pinch’s music. Both influences and the intersectional sounds pervade both his productions and mixes - this unique crossover leading to demand worldwide for his DJ sets, as well as production skills renowned through his ‘Tectonic’ label, and work with the likes of Mumdance, Riko Dan, Shackleton and Adrian Sherwood. Enjoy this hour-long mix for our series; demonstrating why he is one of the most versatile artists around.

Ranging from deep and dubby to bass-heavy and bumpy,  Pugilist‘s musical creations have been picked up by such labels as Whities, Zam Zam and Modern Hypnosis in recent years, but it’s his brilliant new three-tracker on DJ Oberman’s Nous’klaer Audio that really caught our attention.

With that in mind, we reached out to see if he would be interested in laying down a mix for us. The result is a chuggy, bass-driven and highly percussive journey through all things dub, slo-mo techno and broken beat, with almost forty tracks crammed into the one hour and thirty-six-minute long recording – many of which unreleased. DjRUM - Imaginary Movie Mix for Resident Advisor

DJ Autumn (@autumn-bpr) plays various pivotal roles in the UK dance music scene. Firstly, he is label manager at Banoffee Pies Records. It's a buy on sight imprint and network of various sub-labels such as Otaku, Beats, Limited Series and the ambient Sonder Series that plots an always tasteful path between broken beat, garage and minimal clubs sounds from cutting edge artists. Those sounds also characterise his own DJ sets and radio shows everywhere from Worldwide FM to NTS to the BBC. From high tempo intensity to tripped out atmospherics,  he's an ever present vibesman who also founded his own Headroom Festival in 2019.

His mix for us this week is a stripped back and dubbed out winter warmer. Always oozing a sense of cool and control, it builds through the most cavernous of bass spaces and icy sci-fi sonics towards a skeletal jungle workout that gets you on your toes. The sounds are always rich and soulful so pull you deep into a comforting musical world. And we can all make time for that right now.
