11:11 is the first track on Vol. 2, an album of 14 meditation songs. Environmental Music is an ongoing project, unearthed in 2020, continuing to grow with the first release of Volume 2, followed by Volume 1, Volume 3 and Volume 4. This music is made for relaxing the mind, body and soul. It is an ode to musicians like Hiroshi Yoshimura who pioneered the Japanese genre called Kankyo Ongaku which translates to environmental music, ambient music made for environments. This is healing music made for both our internal and external landscapes. Studies have proven that sounds of nature calm the human nervous system and promote a more balanced homeostasis. Let us all connect with nature everyday in some way and work to care for her as she so generously cares for us, and remember, we are nature. The name Patron Saints Of The Hummingbirds is dedicated to the fledgling hummingbird I found this past week and cared for. Hummingbirds are recognized by the Aztecs as having all the attributes necessary to be a good warrior and represents the powerful sun god Huitzilopochtli, who was conceived after his mother caught hummingbird feathers falling from the sky. These falling feathers were considered to be the soul of the warrior. On July 26 2024, Chiron, designated as both a comet and a minor planet, known as the Wounded Healer, goes into retrograde for five months in the constellation of Aries, another warrior symbol and my sun sign. This period is a time for focusing on healing deep wounds and personal expansion, a time for composting what needs to be churned into the earth so new growth can spring forth. This process calls on profound compassion for the vulnerabilities of oneself and our surrounding communities. Allowing the warrior inside us all to remove the armor, put down the shields and relax. Thank you to my ancestors who lovingly guided me with this music as an offering, drifting quietly tuning the space with calm and peaceful energy.
