A long time ago in a galaxy not so far, far away.... people gathered and grooved and generally had a good time.

The times changed, and there was less gathering, but people still managed to have a good time in small temporal pockets

Out of one of those pockets this little musical set sprang forth, containing tunes that I like, but were sitting idle on the shelves gathering dust.

This is my first attempt at doing a live set with video recording. Hat tip to all the DJs and musicians livestreaming out there on the internets - a lot of preparation and work goes into those sets, which I've grown a whole new level of appreciation for after my recent ordeal 🙂 

It took me a good bit of fiddling to work out how to get the video recording matched back with a clean digital audio feed from the DJ mixer in the OBS recording software, as OBS doesn't support ASIO audio by default -  The laptop surprisingly managed to hold everything together well other than an in-explicable skip while mixing at the 16:51 mark. Recording from my opening set at 1015 Folsom for Bon Entendeur. Unfortunately due to bad audio, I had to remove the last 30 mins.   
This was my debut at 1015 Folsom and I couldn't hope for a better start in this club. The energy was amazing.

A collaboration of DJ Moonstein and DJ Chi (https://soundcloud.com/chidj), recorded live at a secret castle in Berkeley Hills, California, it's a playful meditation on what it means to be happy. In their attempt to do justice to this question (if not the answer), they went from melodic house to techno and back, with a nod to Latin music and a splash of funky beats that are hard to define but easy to fall in love with.

What is Happiness?

Thursday at Afrikaburn 2017.  We parked up facing the sun at the Dust Devils saloon and the platform for a great late afternoon session was provided with none other than @stereo-express.  Its been an fun and exhausting week.  Myself and Gerry was feeling the strain of the burn.  Nevertheless we got on The Dragon and gave it go.  This is what came from it.  Hope you guys enjoy it!

Well, what can we say? This set cooked as expected. https://soundcloud.com/alexcruz has a huge following in SA and at AfrikaBurn and we welcomed him again for a solid late sunset session on Friday afternoon to a massive audience that spilled far into the desert. From grooving basslines to uplifting vocals and back again, Alex gave Tankwa what it'd been waiting for. In Alex's words:

"Lovers of Music! Here we go again, this time with a 2,5 hour live set I played at AfrikaBurn earlier this month. Being at AfrikaBurn is always such a highlight of the year for me. Being there with people I love and then playing for a crowd who really like what I am doing! (Lucky me ;-)) This year I played for the Leopard Mafia on Wednesday and on Thursday for the Space Cowboys. The week before I played at another sold out Suikerbossie in Cape Town (thanks to Caroline/Karen to make that happen again). So I already had a nice warm-up for the South African crowd. I never have expectations before I play somewhere because I always want to go all-in with a blank mind. And so I did on this trip as well. But knowing what the crowd and atmosphere was the years before I always feel very excited to bring some nice pieces of music with me. Please listen yourself what happened during this sunset set. After ‘Follow The Sun’ we went into nighttime mode and although the temperature dropped my heart was heated by the love and happy faces I saw in front of me. Hasta La Vista and till next time!
