***INTERVIEW WITH BLACK LOOPS***

-Hi Blackloops! Could You please explain your identity, who you are and where your from?

Hi Everyone! we are both coming from Arezzo, a small town in Tuscany, near Florence.
Riccardo is a musician (drummer) and a audio engineer, Gabriele is a videomaker who works for fashion magazines as Vogue, GQ etc etc...
We know each other from long time, we used to have a party in our home town where we were constantly djing as residents.
After few years of djing we decided to start producing... so about 1 year and a half ago we put together our backgrounds and we gave birth to "Black loops"

-Is producing/DJ'ing a full time job for you?

At the moment we are focused more than ever in producing music, and do as much releases and remixes as we can, but these days music industry it's not that easy for earning enough money for living.. so we both have our part time jobs... at the moment things are growing quite fast, so who knows..one day producing and djing could be our full time job definetly :)

-What made you to be the producer you are today?

 We've been in contact for a long time with the german label GOMMA RECORDS, as Riccardo is the drummer of the MUNK band... when we made the first tracks as black loops, we sent them to mathias modica (Gomma boss) and he really liked them.. so he offered us to release them in the gomma's sublabel TOYTONICS... that's how it started...

-Whats your studio set up currently like?

We produce mostly with ableton live, logic and reason, but most of the synths and basses sounds comes from analogic devices (juno 106, virus ti, nord lead etc...).. we use also MASCHINE for composing the rhythm

-What's it like living in Berlin? Do you sometimes miss the scene back in Italy?

We moved here about a year ago.. Berlin is inspiring, that CHAOS/NON CHAOS makes this city unique.. and speaking in terms of music, the scene here is huge, and is where the freshest sounds come from...

We don't really miss the scene back in italy... but we come back and play sometimes, and is always fun :)


-Any exciting plans for the future?

Plans for the future... we are going to release new eps in TOYTONICS and Audiojack's GRUUV records, also an ep for the berliner NEOVINYL records, some remixes for exposure rec, deepinside rec., godzilla kebab rec. etc etc..
We are also really excited because few days ago we joined the new GRUUV booking dept.

Sessions #01 - Black Loops

Neovinyl is happy to introduce Black Loops as a part of the big family, our favourite Italian duo who is always a restless quality, is back in town with this grand Innercity EP. Normally their releases have a great diversity but this two tracker is clearly marked by an exceptional loose percussion and fuzzy edges. This work shows an artist who's looking for perfection his craft while continuing to deliver solid tunes.

At times, this work can seem like an impressive introduction to our imprint, and it is indeed. This can probably be their most mature and enthralling productions that make Black Loops strongest effort to date, specially these tracks that have been carefully treated mixing rhythm at once untethered and squashed. It's infused with a melodic and soft catching soul that pictures a reminiscent of beautiful vibes.

This EP gets remix treatment by two well known faces in the house, Piek and Maik Yells. For this occasion Piek has reworked the track Innercity shaping a completely different mood from the original. Amazing beats to make this track an extraordinary dancefloor tool. On another note Maik Yells comes back home with a dark groovy review of the track Fenlaki, a solid remix and definitive serious pulse... It is the sound of a talent uncovering his musical possibilities!

"It all began with “Have Sword, Will Travel“, an EP that started the „armed“ journey with its many different ups and downs. But the label is still here and celebrates its 10th anniversary today. Besides being pretty emotional about the fact that this journey is still continuing after so many years, I’m also looking back at an intense period of time full of doubts, disappointments and mistakes. Especially social media leads us to believe that every life is so exciting, spectacular and unique and that you are doing something wrong compared to all of this glamorous self-promotion. If you really start comparing to these blissful images, things feel miserable very fast. But instead, the healthiest things are to just be yourself, to follow your vision no matter how slow and complicated things evolve and to avoid doing things that feel wrong and factitious. And because of that, everything is right where it should be for Shaw Cuts and it’s still so much fun and exciting to run this project. I’m trying my best to keep things going and to keep things fresh & exciting - hopefully for another decade.

Thank you all for the genuine appreciation and support of all the music that got released over the past 10 years, for having an open mind for all the different projects and for helping the label to grow and develop a certain brand recognition and identity. Polytope’s first EP welcomes two rising stars from the European bass music scene: Brussels-based fa:act and Parisian artist Meli Mena. The duo has crafted a six-track, club-ready opus featuring a special collaboration and a remix by Maoupa Mazzocchetti.

"COUGH TWICE IF YOU CARE" dives into the depths of the hardcore continuum with the distinctive styles of both artists on full display.

fa:act contributes two dancehall-inspired bangers with his signature touch: “Wizard Bubble” and “Breeze and Riddim.”

Meli Mena delivers two high-energy club tracks infused with breakbeat influences and IDM resonances: “Hot Girls Get Sad” and “SideQuest Nap.”
