A young & promising producer/DJ who goes by the name of Specialivery curated our 11th Nightshade mix. 

Swiss Armed Forces Militia Lieutenant Carlo Bernasconi first approached musicianship as a turntablist, circa 2000 (under the pseudonym G.BIZ). By 2006 he had achieved renown in his field, reaching 2nd place at the Swiss DMC DJ Championships. Despite his classical training (having spent 7 years of his youth studying piano and solfeggio in a Conservatory setting), he didn’t take a shine to actually making music until 2011’s Specialivery revelation.

Under the guise of Specialivery, Carlo found himself channeling the rigor of his military training and his academic technical expertise into a punishing, highly controlled techno meisterwerks. A scholar by design and a traveler by circumstance, his style is not bogged down by any regional trends or periodic novelties, instead being driven by a conceptual fondness for primeval mysticism and ancient civilizations. And rather than transcribing the rawness of his topics of choice through the oft-abused lo-fi rave pastiche of warehouse techno, Carlo opts for a highly polished assault of religiously frenetic percussion and brooding, primordial musical progression – drawing comparisons to dark techno luminaries.

Since his inception, Specialivery has DJed, produced, collaborated, and ghost-produced without pause, alternating between his Switzerland residence and his extended NY- and Paris-based crews.

Within Aotearoa’s psychedelic circles, Ikona needs little introduction. A steadfast vessel of sound with a vision wholly his own. Master of sound design, modular synthesis, and live performance, he’s inscribed his name deep upon the walls of the scene.

Pom Poko stands for fast, energetic sounds moving between trance, psychedelic, and tribal. Dark textures merge with distorted, strange soundscapes and transformed real-life samples, creating an organic yet driving experience.

Marek began in the techno scene but was soon drawn to faster rhythms and more complex structures - a natural evolution toward a denser, more intense sound. His experimental, not by textbook way of producing often feels chaotic yet always finds its own logic.

Constantly evolving and exploring, his music hovers between hypnosis and madness - restless, raw, and full of energy.

This project spreads across different soundscapes exploring and building new  vibratory paths that helps us navigate through a vast web of interconnected frequencies and rhythms, creating unique and intimate spaces for dancers to take part in a sonic experience in a way that can most directly connect the body, the mind and the soul to the main source as it transforms land forms into celestial beings.

It has been a very long way since the beginning of this piece but I am very happy to have it finally released! Always thankful for all the trust and understanding from all the artists involved and every who has been supporting, lovers and protectors of this journey on the alluring coherence between sound and creation.
