Wavelet is the aka under which the Valencian DJ Mario Ortega hides. He is characterized by being a faithful defender and activist of Electro in all its aspects (having a special interest in combining this style with styles such as IDM) as well as the vinyl format.

His interest in electronic music began in the 90's, influencing the sound of labels such as Warp, Skam, Direct Beat or Electron Industries. Later it was labels like Touchin`Bass, Ai Records or SCSI-AV that were carving his style as a DJ until in 2013 he finally decided to make the leap to the decks.

His career has always been closely linked to the Valencian group Hypnotica Colectiva (HC), being a member of the radio platform "Electronic Café Radio" for three years and organizing and being a resident of the We Are The Robots (W.A.T.R) parties of HC from 2014 to the present.

On the other hand, since 2014, it is common to find Wavelet in the booths of some of the main clubs in the city of Valencia, leading him to share the bill with artists of the stature such as ADJ, Carl Finlow, Boris Divider or Umwelt among others.

Together with Sigma_Algebra, he currently directs the Tensor Norm label, whose second vinyl release will be released on September of this year (see bit.ly/3KImm3s for more information).

1. Which artists has influenced you the most?

- My interest in electronic music began in the '90s, influenced mainly by the sound of labels like Warp, Skam, Rephlex, Direct Beat, or Electron Industries and groups/artists as Autechre, Aphex Twin, Jega, or Aux 88. Later they were the sound of labels like Touchin'Bass, Pyramid Transmissions, Ai Records, or SCSI-AV, which ended up establishing my musical tastes.

2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- I am currently entirely focused on running my label, Tensor Norm, which I co-run with Sigma Algebra. During the next few weeks, we will release our second 12”, Almost Everywhere, composed by various artists (Clone Theory, Sigma_ALgebra, LectrO cOd_E, Liðvarð, and Jaquarius) in an EP full of electro, breaks, acid, and IDM. But in the medium term, we already have several EPs closed focused more on the early IDM sound.

3. Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- In my opinion, nowadays, the electro genre is in an excellent state of health. There are many international artists I would highlight ADJ, Syrte, Serge Geysel, Junq, or Ben Pest, among others. On the other hand, regarding the Spanish electro scene, I would underline Kör Boira, Sigma_ALgebra, Negocius Man or Univac. Regarding labels, I would highlight the following: Science Cult, Arkada Records, Pyramid Transmissions, and as spanish labels: Analogical Force, Syntax Electronics, HC Records, Another Perspective, or Artificial Intelligence.

Obzerv is a 24-year-old producer/DJ from London who began DJing roughly 4 years ago.

His productions and mix sessions are defined by his concepts from the realms of science fiction and are often inspired by his general observation of life and wanting freedom from the system that we are confined to. His mission to share his vision and sound with the world has just begun. This is only the beginning for this young talent and we are very excited to see his journey continue.

We met Volen through a tip from our friends at Cyclone as a Los Angeles-based DJ who was also a natural with production. In 2021 we released Volen's Distortion mini-album on Rhizome Forms. Those heady productions stuck with us and we knew a vinyl would soon be ready. Four years later, with countless hours spent in his Arizona desert sound lab, we present four acidic dancefloor interventions on wax.

“Validation” is immediately lively with a cascading acid groove. Spinning through inversions, the vocal refrains frame the kaleidoscopic dance floor energy of the title track.

The record's a-side finds completeness with the twisted anthem “I've Got to Shower".
Wobbly chords simmer under that famous sample while a slick breakbeat delivers the rhythm.

Side-b arrives with swagger as "Left & Right” rolls in with a mental acid and breakbeat powerplant of a groove.The track's breakdown billows atmosphere while the lower frequencies growl.

Volen saves the starry ecstasy for the final track. “Pump Their Dump” is an upbeat and dreamy acid house journey evolving into a collage of ear candy samples that'll satisfy dancers looking for that positive vibration release.
