Morttagua brings his first release of 2022 in the hypnotic progressive piece “Sirians”. 

The Sirians are an extraterrestrial race of people who assist Earth and its inhabitants, as they are considered to be ‘Spiritual Warriors’ and are more spiritually advanced than most off-world civilizations. Sirians are deeply wise, conscious and loving empathic people, though they are much more evolved technologically than us. In the metaphysical sense, Sirius is home to one of the most advanced training centers or universities known as the Mystery Schools, to which the ascended spiritual masters travel to. 

Morttagua inspired himself in the benevolent “Sirians” to compose the magical melodic riff of this title single.  Together with a tight percussion groove and sparkling pluck synths, “Sirians” brings its listeners into a profound state of timeless melodic euphoria.  Simply put as this: A perfect dance floor weapon for that sunrise moment on the dance floor.

Sternstunde, as its name suggests, is testament to a producer staying the course. Not letting motivation, or a lack of, get the better of you. A defining moment. Written during a difficult lockdown period, Sternstunde's melody suddenly came together for German artist Solee. It was the catalyst, not only for completing the tune, but also for a stream of new found inspiration.

That same melody was also the hook for Joris Voorn. 'The moment I heard Sternstunde for the first time I recognised beauty in its simplicity.' It soon became a firm favourite for the Spectrum boss, but as with many of his faves he went to work with his scalpel and wizardry, crafting an edit for his sets that takes the track to a new dimension. 'I decided to make an edit that let the melody be more present than the drums. Over the months of playing it I've received so many requests for it to be played at my future shows, so it felt like a good idea to release it.'

Nikko.Z's Dopamine White rounds out the month of April by welcoming Electric Dada to the label for their debut single. Made up of German artists Jan de Vice and JP Silence, the Electric Dada alias was revealed to the world in 2020. The duo's progressive style was immediately recognized for its emotive qualities and strong dancefloor sensibility. A transcendent sound which would see them go on to release key projects via Univack and Massive Harmony Records, while also earning the praise of the underground's tastemakers. Now, presenting their first single of 2023, Electric Dada debuts on Dopamine White with 'Liquid Dope Skin', alongside a remix from Paul Deep.

Looking to diversify their portfolio further, Electric Dada calls on the vocal talents of Mawine. Together the trio craft a sweeping sonic experience all their own, where full key changing grooves and driving percussion set the course for emotive arps and balmy atmospheres. Mawine's breathy wails morph into boisterous chants making for a unique balance of elegance and power, while astral stabs and retro acid lines propel the track to an epic finale.

The release concludes with Paul Deep making his return on the label with the lone interpretation of 'Liquid Dope Skin'. With a career that spans the better part of a decade, the Argentinean artist has compiled an impressive resume along the way, landing releases via All Day I Dream, Tale and Tone, The Soundgarden and Sudbeat. World class DJs Lee Burridge, Guy J, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren have all been steadfast supporters of Paul's sound, which often sits in the creative space between progressive and organic house. Dopamine Music has also been a regular landing spot for the Buenos Aires resident, with five appearances since making his label debut in 2017. Now, following a remix of 'Cycles' by fellow countryman Juan Deminicis, Paul makes a welcome return to Dopamine with a heady take on 'Liquid Dope Skin'. Rather than burst into a dancefloor whirlwind or electronic symphony, Paul's remix evokes its emotions through slow burn repetition, dodging expectations and emphasizing its conceptual charm; as crunchy rhythms, striking chord stabs and hypnagogic synths unveil a semi-conscious dreamland, before the Argentine's progressive attitude reveals itself during a final of tension filled noise, deconstructed vocals and cosmic arps. A powerful interpretation from Paul Deep, which rounds out an excellent label debut for Electric Dada, an artist duo who is set to emerge further as 2023 unfolds.

Continuing a strong summer season, Astral Records unveils the third installment of their 'Celestial' series. Continuing their highly stylized brand of melodic house and techno, the label continues to push the boundaries of this burgeoning genre, while never losing sight of the cosmic qualities that has made the sound so appealing to many. With an emphasis on melody and emotion, Astral Records follows on from the success of 2022's 'Celestial' Pt. 2 with the much anticipated third edition, featuring (in order of appearance) Vaneama, Q.U.A.K.E and HRÄG, Far Distance, Gus (MT) and 2Qimic. Based in the Netherlands, it is Vaneama who gets the release underway with 'Omit'. Although early on in his production journey, Utrecht resident Vaneama has already made his mark in the melodic house and techno community with a release via the UK's sequence music. Paired with Astral artist duo Deciduous, the trio unleashed two collaborations earlier this year to great response, setting the course for Vaneama's impending audio travelogue. Now, getting his solo career off to a great start, the rising Dutch talent makes his Astral debut with the fiery sounds of 'Omit'. Selection two and also the collection's lone collaboration comes from occasional studio partners Q.U.A.K.E and HRÄG. With a combined discography including releases via Freegrant Music, Soshal Records, and Miss Monique's Siona Records, both Q.U.A.K.E and HRÄG have achieved success in their solo careers. Having previously appeared on Astral with their 'Where to Start' EP from last year, this formidable duo now make a welcome return to the label with the enigmatic peaktime creation 'Whispers of Eternity'. Marking the collection's halfway point is Far Distance who make their label debut with 'We Believe'. With a career that spans the better part of a decade Spanish duo Far Distance have more than etched their place in electronic music's trend driven underground. The duo's amalgamation of progressive and melodic house has found a home on Einmusika, Freegrant Music, Perspectives Digital, Somatic and more; while world class DJs Lane 8, Kevin de Vries and Solomun have been regular supporters. Now, adding Astral Records to their resume, Far Distance debuts on the label with the thunderous sounds of 'We Believe'. Moving forward to selection four it is Gus (MT) who makes his label debut with 'Time Machine'. First emerging in 2020, Maltese artist Gus (MT) began his production project out of a great passion for music. Dedicated to telling stories of the dark and mysterious, his releases via Frequenza, Steyoyoke, and Miss Monique's Siona Records highlight his meticulous discography. Continuing on an upwards trajectory as we enter into 2023's second half, Gus (MT) now makes his Astral Records debut with a unique blend of acid and melody that is 'Time Machine'. The release concludes with 2Qimic making their label debut with 'Fhinta'. Composed of Spanish producers Alberto Sainz and Esteban Albacete, 2Qimic have been fixtures of the electronic underground for well over two decades. Highly regarded as Djs in their home country, the duo's melodic productions have achieved measurable success globally, with Click Records, Steyoyoke, Us and Them Records and more all being landing spots for their charismatic sound. Were back in the capital with the 8th installment of the Stil vor Talent Berlin compilation series, which brings forth a group of old and new faces, who exclusively contributed unreleased tracks, gathered under the umbrella of one of Berlins derelict treasures. Neukölln's Blub, short for "Berliner Luft- und Badeparadis", was a waterpark opened in 1985 in the Britz area. After its closure in 2002 the site fell into disrepair, waiting for housing redevelopment and revealing a fragile beauty in its decay as days go by. Like all of Berlin's remaining ruins, Blub serves as a reminder of long-gone times, while amplifying the current tensions between aggressive gentrification and useful repurposing. As always, music is the common denominator and Oliver Koletzki delivers the perfect soundtrack with this new release, while Chrisse Kunst renders the visuals.

Dirkie Coetzee started his career in the EDM scene as a bedroom DJ way back at the tender age of 16. After spending numerous years perfecting his mixing skills he quickly started to feature in night clubs, events and radio stations around Southern Africa. It was in this time that Dirkie started to gain interest in the art of music production. 

“I used to be a DJ, but thanks to the wonderful world of music production I can now create the music I want to play.”

Without any formal training in music theory, rhythms, chord progressions, sound synthesis or music production in general, Dirkie set out to learn this fine art by scouring any available articles and tutorials available on the internet. With many years of trial and error Dirkie slowly refined his skills as a music producer to create the sounds you hear in his music today.

“It’s hard to stay motivated when you feel like you are not achieving anything with your music, but passion for music always dies a slow death and quitting is never an option for me.”

It’s this passion for music and trance music production in particular that has helped Dirkie to get his music signed to some of the best labels in the business.
 
2011 is the year Dirkie Coetzee focused all his energy and time on producing Vocal Trance. His debut Vocal Trance production “Never Looking Back” with world renowned singer and songwriter Emma Lock has given Dirkie a solid platform to showcase his ability to craft this powerful genre of music. American artist Marcia Juell is another one of the world’s leading Trance Vocalists that has worked on collaborations with the rapidly rising producer from South Africa.
