There are many things that we love about the @apparel-wax releases. Firstly they always arrive with some sort of great fun gift (010 comes with a plectrum), secondly they forego the usual artist adulation to focus solely on the music. There are no divas at work here. And finally the constant renewing and re-imagining of their sound has been a joy across the series. From Vol 1 all the way through to the latest, and sadly the final chapter of Apparel Wax, it's been a constant discovery of new sounds and new musical dimensions.

Thankfully we have the brilliance of Vol 10 to bask in before they head off into the sunset. Our premier today is 010A1 and it's a throbbing slice of deep disco edged house music. Packing an incessant groove of a bassline, floor shaking percussion, hands aloft synth stabs and the coolest of cool guitar licks it's pretty much the perfect underground track. Indeed it's exactly how you would like remember an old friend who you are seeing for the last time before they head off on an endless adventure. 010A1 is vivacious, totally essential and so utterly full of life. On the flip, Felipe takes us into high gear with the hypnotic looped synth groove and relentless beats of Clásico, and lets us down easy with the jazzy lilt of Julia y Luis. Cody Currie is back with a new song on Toy Tonics. The London born, Berlin based keyboarder, producer, singer, DJ and man of great style is a lead artist of the German label by now. The 22-year-old has released a few EPs that made him one of the probably most talked about newcomers in the new soulful house scene. "The Tom Misch of jazzy house" they called him, and maybe that description could fit. He plays most instruments himself, never uses samples, and the atmospheres he creates are unique.

For his new song, he teamed up one more time with Eliza Rose. The London vocalist, DJ, producer and radio host already was featured on Cody Currie’s last single "Moves". After a couple of well received gigs they did together, jamming live on stage, they decided to do another song. And here it is: Eliza’s sweet voice correspends perfectly with Cody’s chords and warm rolling grooves. The Rhodes piano riff and that funky bassline stay in your head after just one time listening. The two London souls fit so well together. And both are just at the beginning of their carrier. Eliza Rose is going to release her solo debut EP in Spring 2022 and Cody has an album coming up in Winter 2022.

Our fourth 12" vinyl release, again a full 4 track artist EP, comes from young dutchman Cleanfield. Relatively unknown at the start of this year, we listened to his demo's and signed them on the spot for a vinyl release. While waiting on the production of this release he's made quite the entry as newcomer on the deephouse, nu-disco scene with two digital releases on Delve Deeper, that performed really well in the charts. Super stoked to release these super funky, groovy tracks on beautiful black wax.
