Our new EP Ghostcatcher is named after the instrument, the Siberian Ghostcatcher. It is a mouthbow played by Shamans of the North to communicate with ghosts and insects, featured here on the track “Polaris”. The EP explores sublime energy spoken and unspoken, from the tranced out western desert bass grooves of “Joshua Tree”, to the indie roots folk story of a rambling woman in “Earth to Make Rain”, to the multi-hued kaleidoscopic world groove journey of “Polaris”, to the psychedelic African Ngoni supported cover of Black Sabbath’s “Planet Caravan”, featuring Emma Lucia on vocals

Named after one of our favorite places in Southern California, ‘Joshua Tree’ conjures up images of solitude and spaciousness with an infectious strumming backbeat groove carrying a melodic dialogue between the fiddle, melodica, and harmonica.

Dirtwire is a traveler’s collage of Earth-borne instruments and electronic sounds foraged from Electric Forest to the mountains of Tuva. From their home on the west coast of the United States to far-flung destinations all over the world, these troubadours are welcomed for speaking the most unifying language there is: music.

Every live set is a magician’s surprise show, an invitation to experience instruments that are usually heard only as samples in electronic music. It is a celebration of the art of the instrument, not just the sound you can record from it. Future revival, swamptronica, spaghetti-step, electro-twang — whatever you call Dirtwire’s music, what matters is that you can dance to it, as sure as a lizard dances in the desert.
