I’ve been crafting music since 2004 starting with lo-fi bedroom recordings and a heart full of strange weather, though i started playing and performing when I was 13. I gave up playing in bands to focus on developing my own sound and find my own voice. These days, I blend dream pop, folktronica, ambient textures, chillwave, drum machines and mythic storytelling into songs that explore memory, magic, and the sea.

Living on the Cornish coast, I draw deep from local folklore, spiritual journeys, and half remembered dreams. My work is shaped by place tides, ruins, starlit footpaths and by timeless themes of loss, wonder, and renewal. I am inspired by stories and the ebb and flow of life. 

Highlights include The Selkie EP, a shape-shifting folk tale in song, and The Pilgrim’s Path, my tenth album, tracing an inner and outer journey of transformation.

Award Winning, LA Based Producer/Songwriter/Remixer

Aron Friedman comes from South Africa where he studied classical piano and jazz. Aron achieved early success in the UK as a songwriter with EMI Music, winning an award at The Tokyo Music Festival. He then conquered the dance music scene with international success as a producer/writer/remixer.

As SERIOUS ROPE (a production partnership with Damon Rochefort of NOMAD fame) he had a string of number one, world-wide club hits. With their SPIRITS project, they had several Top 40 hits and won the coveted ASCAP Rhythm and Soul Music Award for ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’, which was a NO.1 club smash in both the UK and US.

Aron’s combination of musicality and credibility made him a successful dance music producer/remixer and a pop songwriter/producer. He has had hits and worked with many artists over the last 25 years including: ELTON JOHN & RU PAUL, BACK STREET BOYS, CASINO, ALEXANDER O’NEAL, ROZALLA, TAKE THAT, JODECI, PEACHES & HERB, NOMAD, SABRINA JOHNSON, TECHNOTRONIC, MICHELLE GAYLE, JEANNIE TRACEY, THELMA HOUSTON, KIM WILDE, KENNY THOMAS, SARAH WASHINGTON, ALISTAIR GRIFFIN, BAD BOYS INC., BOYBAND (West End Musical), DAISY HICKS, HEAR’SAY, MARIA WILSON and COOKIE. Aron also co-produced GENESIS REVISITED, with ex-GENESIS guitarist STEVE HACKETT recording with the ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA at Air Studios, London, recreating GENESIS’ classics. Aron also produced music for all the BBC TV FAME ACADEMY Series.

Since relocating to Los Angeles, Aron has hit the ground running! With hit songwriter Pam Sheyne (Genie in a Bottle), he has written and produced for CASEY ABRAMS (American Idol) debut album, ELVIS BLUE (South African Idol Winner), named Best Adult Contemporary Album in the South African Music Awards for ‘Journey’ on which Aron had 4 co-writes! CHARLIZE BERG (SONY/album) and CHER LLOYD (Xfactor). Aron’s other current writing/production projects include; ADAM TYLER/Fade Into The Light – single release & EP, RIGHT THE STARS/EP, STEFAN POOLE (Your Music Label) and is also currently collaborating with MATT WALLACE (Producer MAROON 5, FAITH NO MORE) on a number of artists including ANDY GRAMMER & CHELSEA CULLEN. Aron also composes music for programs on ABC & DISNEY .

Eden are an Acoustic groove/funk 3 piece band based in Portsmouth, Fronted by Published Songwriter Jay Munday. Eden perform on a regular basis in Portsmouth and surrounding areas and have spent the last couple of years making a name for themselves by supporting several signed artists. Including acts such as; Cassie Taylor and the Soul Cavalry Band (Cellars at Eastney, 5th October 2012) Mamas Gun (Cellars at Eastney, 12th November 2011), Willie Nile (Cellars at Eastney, 31st October 2011) Sherman Robertson (The Southsea Bandstand, 24th July 2011) Larry Garner and the Norman Beaker Band (Cellars at Eastney, 19th May 2011) Jon Amor (Cellars at Eastney, Apr 8th 2010 and Tower Arts Centre, Winchester, Apr 16th 2010) Edwina Hayes (Cellars at Eastney, Oct 10th 2010) and The Bittersweets (Feb 7th 2010) to name a few.  

Eden's music is a blend of all their influences, their relaxed personalities and extensive musical knowledge, the result of this mixture is relaxed, melodic melodies, inspired jazz chordal harmonies with underlying grooves. Eden are; Jay Munday (Hatfish Music LTD, Guitar, Vocals and Songwriter), Jamie Watkins (Bass and Backing Vocals) and Sam Luker (Drums). The band also feature live Special Guests; Ed Hogston (Lead Guitar), Steve Grainger (Saxophone) and Gary Shaw (Lead Guitar).

In a basement music-making studio in the south of England sit a bunch of machines. A Moog System 15, a Juno 106, classic Roland TR-808, TB-303 and TR-909s, an Emu SP1200, a Sequential Circuits Prophet 5, Akai MPC, a Mini-Moog… these machines have been some of the foundation hardware for electronic music over the years.

But these machines can’t make music by themselves. Despite all the hype about artificial intelligence (AI) and robots, these machines need somebody to collaborate with — a human — to draw out their soul and funk.

We’ve been fascinated by machine music since the second half of the 20th century, and electronic music has been powered by the ever-developing automation of new technology. “I’ve collected these machines for a long time now, and each one has a story,” says uber-producer Steve Mac, owner of all these machines. “Every time I buy a new one, the rule is that I have to make a track with it.”

The variety of people who drop by to play on these machines are what make the music coming out of this studio so diverse. Whether it’s house music legends like Marshall Jefferson or Danny Rampling swinging by, or cult Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh laying down some vocals on a German/Scottish kosmische disco ditty; a session with dubwise breakbeat rave act Genaside II to making a track with unknown guitar n’ bass whizkid Scott Booth; from working with young house hotshots Cousn from Bristol to some songs with a Brazilian band Steve met in the pub — these machines need humans to collaborate with. They can’t do it themselves.

The above-mentioned Brazilian band member Rafael Berrio provided the impetus for ‘Martina’, a Balearic Brazilian love story that’s the first single from Steve’s new project. It’s backed by a melodic breakbeat piece that also utilises those Brazilian vibes. “I want to make music from the heart,” says Steve. “It’s the interaction of people and machines that I’m really fascinated with.”

Each of these machines is a feat of engineering. Machines like these have created countless classic electronic music cuts, and lately Steve has been adding to that cannon — with a slew of tracks ready to go. The electricity is on. The motor is running. Are you ready for the sound of These Machines?
