"You can get deeply lost in the darkness if you let yourself merge with it and not fight it.” With this statement, Denise Rabe vividly encapsulates her musical philosophy. As this episode of DYSTOPIA exhibits, her sound is less a musical form than a collection of sounds generating a tense, haunting atmosphere. Rabe's methods and ideas show with total clarity how darkness, what our society incorrectly perceives as negative, is in fact an opening onto a radically liberated world of abstract forces. In this episode I seek to define the meaning of darkness in techno and Denise also shares her thoughts with us about Berghain, the role of gender within the techno scene, how her personal philosophy is expressed through her music, as well as the fortuitous synergy between her name and the spirit of her music. Right on cue to support the release of his newest EP on SK_eleven, here comes Manchester via Berlin's own Setaoc Mass with a banger of a mix to break June in proper, pedal to the metal. Exponent of a sound both intrinsically rugged yet layered to mind-altering effect, the British producer has been dishing out unstoppable slices of hi-velocity techno laced with a signature stripped-back, psychedelic edge. This new RYC podcast doesn’t veer off from such a direction and we’re graced with a two-hour mind trip boasting both bass-driven warehouse impact and an elegantly-woven tapestry of abrasive grooves, leaning by turn towards atmospheric elation and on other occasions pushing in the direction of utter fibrous, steel-coated industrial pound. The result is a wilder than wild ride down a smouldering pit of acid-washed hard hitters. Brutal.

Bas Mooy (1976) has been a driving force in the international techno scene for over twenty
five years. Hailing from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, he has carved out a distinct niche with
his dark, powerful, and uncompromising sound. As a DJ, producer, and label owner, Mooy
continues to shape the future of techno with a fierce dedication to quality and innovation.

For almost twenty years Bas was a member of the Rotterdam underground collective ‘Strictly
Techno’, creators of over a hundred legendary parties since the late nineties. Since the start
of Mord Records the focus shifted towards hosting label nights all over the world, in
legendary clubs such as Berghain (Berlin), Basement (New York), Fold (London), Perron
(Rotterdam) and Tresor (Berlin).

Mooy’s productions have found a home on some of the genre’s most respected labels,
including Mote-Evolver, 47, Pole Group, Perc Trax, Planet Rhythm, and his own imprints,
Mord and Audio Assault. Launched in 2013, Mord quickly became a vital platform for cutting-
edge techno, showcasing both established artists and fresh talent from around the globe.
With its raw, industrial aesthetic and consistently forward-thinking releases, Mord has
solidified its place at the forefront of the underground.

As a performer, Bas Mooy is known for his intense, high-energy DJ sets that span the
spectrum of dark, hypnotic, and driving techno. He has performed at some of the world’s
most renowned clubs and festivals.

Whether in the studio, behind the decks, or curating his label’s next release, Bas Mooy
remains to constantly push the sound forward, while staying true to its underground roots.
With Mord Records turning 12 in 2025, Bas shows no sign of slowing down.

EPM.189 comes from Fossil Archive boss, R.M.K. Hailing from London, R.M.K is an exciting new project by Fossil Archive label head Roberto. It represents a faster and more intense take on his unique brand of Techno. He utilises his knowledge and past experiences, which include regularly playing at Berghain and Tresor in Berlin, as well as fabric in London, to develop his individual sound. R.M.K has distilled that experience into this 2-hr set, recorded directly from his residency at The Glove That Fits, London for the EPM series. Featuring Axel Karakasis, NØRBAK, Glaskin, Juri Heidemann, Volster, James Ruskin, Stephen Brown, Franco Rossi plus a brace of unreleased tracks from Vinicius Honorio & R.M.K himself we get a flawless mix of tough yet hypnotic swinging grooves.

During his 20+ year career in music, Roberto has formed friendships and worked in partnership with other respected artists such as Trevino (Marcus In-talex), Jamie Anderson, Robert Owens, Goldie and Nastia. Although the focus is always on the very heart of the most raucous of raves, R.M.K never shies away from groove and funk. This is conveyed in a Live Show that utilises classic hardware from the golden age of UK Rave and now here on this new mix for the EPM series.
