Through his VALA label, live performances, custom soundsystem, and self-organised parties, he cultivates a holistic approach to club music — one aimed at total immersion and psychological surrender within dimly lit, physically resonant spaces. His sound bridges low-speed experiments and fast-paced meditations, echoing early influences from trance and psy while shaping a refined, contemporary identity since launching VALA in 2021. Balancing introspective textures with impactful club energy, Kaspiann channels the pulse of Helsinki’s clubs and the raw spirit of its underground. His live sets, shifting fluidly between ambient, downtempo, and deep techno, embody a versatile, hypnotic vision that values immersion and sonic exploration above all else.

Driven by a deep curiosity for texture and movement, his productions move fluidly between dub influences, rhythmic intensity, and a growing fascination for minimalism, where every element has space and purpose.
His recent release on Planet Rhythm highlights his groovy dub side, combining depth and pulse for immersive dancefloors. Constantly refining his identity, he seeks to craft timeless works that connect emotion, space, and rhythm.

“This mix explores the balance between hypnotic minimalism and dynamic energy, enriched by deep dub textures and fluid transitions. I used Traktor with four channels running, Ableton for external drum patterns and effects, and an Xone:92 mixer with Xone K2 and Akai APC Mini as controllers.”

Reka Zalan is a Berlin based DJ, who is deeply embedded in the DNA of Berlin's landscape - as a Tresor resident since 2023, a Hard Wax staffer and a member of the Coppi collective. She has laid down her powerful and psychedelic grooves at legendary institutions like Berghain, Vault Sessions, Fusion Festival, Ankali and more.  

The mix dives into the depths of atmospheric, cavernous techno before propelling into the expanse of hyperspace as it builds with speed and intensity. A consistent thread of dense psychedelia is seamlessly woven throughout the entire session - an odyssey for those deep cerebral synapses. Dirty Epic welcomes aboard @shantievanti for the 127th installment of Amplify Series.

Shanti has made textured waves in Chicago’s techno scene with her curation of dark, sinister, and ethereal soundscapes. Music has always been a means of coping with the otherness and hybridity Shanti experienced throughout her life. She has been deeply moved by the transcendent ability of music to express concepts, states of consciousness, and conflicting emotions. Shanti’s sets weave a story of the simultaneous despair and yearning that are intertwined with the human condition and illustrate an intentional trajectory through combining and cultivating surreal, atmospheric, and haunting sounds.
 
Enamored by the liminal dynamics of sound, she cohosts Otherworldly Ambiguity with Scum.ee –an experience that is centered around the phenomenon of existing in between and outside of pre-existing concepts and rigid categories. She is also a member of techno collective Research & Development and hosts a monthly radio show, “Liminal Radio” on WIIT 88.9 FM featuring thoughtful artists at the core of Chicago’s underground music scene.
 
Experiencing music outside of the confines of a club or the underground is extremely important to Shanti as she had initially discovered her favorite artists through online podcasts and radio. The universalizability of podcasts and radio enable music to be experienced by more humans situated in different contexts. This is why she has contributed to many notable online mix series and radio channels. Her mixes have been featured on The Black Lodge Radio, SutroFM, Mutant Radio, PPRZ, Distant Signals, Death Decay & Magic, Braid Records, Low Visibility, Dance All Day, and m50’s etc radio among other podcasts and shows.

"For this closing set, I wanted to cultivate an atmosphere of releasing the turbulent emotions we have been experiencing in Chicago as a community. I anticipated the desire for this release but experiencing it in the subterranean context of Smartbar - in the darkness - in real time- felt so powerful and transcendent. This experience was not merely an escape, but a channeling of the heaviness within us - how do the mind and body cope and grasp what is happening? I was fueled by the defiantly heavy energy from the dancers and it was such a testament to the healing power of music during these dark times."

This month’s DETECT comes from the Tbilisi-based duo @ottonian & Neon Warrior (@gocha-4).

Long-time residents at TES Club, their journey together began in the early hours of countless nights, tweaking systems, exchanging music, and exploring the deeper intent behind club culture.

While Neon Warrior’s sound is defined by minimalism, subtle pressure, and hypnotic repetition, Ottonian draws from the raw percussive traditions of Detroit and Chicago. Their shared project is less about perfect alignment and more about navigating friction: two distinct voices pushing each other forward. 

This mix is an excerpt from Ottonian & Neon Warrior’s extended set recorded live at TES Club’s birthday party on November 7, 2024 in Tbilisi.
