Siege's connection with music runs deep. As a child he was drawn to sound for as long as he can remember. Piano lessons gave him a formal start, but electronic music quickly took over. The energy of eurotrance and the possibilities of sound design opened a new world.

Turntables soon followed. DJing was a way to share that passion, but it wasn't enough. He wanted recognition for the music itself, to create something of his own, so producing became the natural step. Over time this grew into a sound shaped by house, techno and trance, with the drive of techno, the groove of house and the melodies of trance when the track allows for them.

A defining moment came with Crunk, a rework of Mary J. Blige's "Family Affair," released on Azuli. After being swept up in an EDM wave that never felt right, this marked a return to his roots. From there his music began gaining support across the spectrum, from undrground pillars like Carl Cox and Adam Beyer to more mainstream figures such as Tiësto and David Guetta, with consistent backing from BBC Radio 1 selectors including Danny Howard and Pete Tong. Gigs grew in scale, with Tomorrowland's DreamVille stage standing out as a breakthrough, born from a simple email to the festival founder that led to a performance for thousands. His tracks went on to find a home on Toolroom, Saved and Truesoul, while shows took him from Tomorrowland to Eden Ibiza and Studio 338 in London.

Even when life pulled him away from the stage, music stayed close. Coming back was never a question of if, only when. The focus now is simple: make music, and build from there.

The Piper is the alter ego of Pied Piper Paul. Under this moniker, The Piper can play 4x4 beats of a more techno nature, still with a pinch of psychedelic and a sprinkle of acid. Come have a listen to a party popping, Dfloor mover groover, magic making, spell bounding Dj wizard      AKA       Pied Piper Paul is New Zealand’s Trance magic-making Dj. Who keeps funk’n! He’s a Legendary Dj who’s been able to create an ecstatic atmosphere at large events or purist underground parties alike. Paul made his 1st Professional appearance spinning Trance at the well known “The Fridge” club in Brixton, London May 5, 1995, Djing at the famous Escape from Samsara parties. On from there it’s been a million other shows across the planet and beyond. He started out in 1983-86 playing dance tunes from the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s at 21st, weddings, parties and club nights in his home town of Hastings, N.Z. During this time he honed and showed the ability he’s still using today, that is to intuitively read the crowd. Out of these humble beginnings he's been invited to play at some of the grandest Trance festivals across the Globe including the Boom (Portugal), Solipse (Zambia), Fusion and Vuuv or Voov as it was known earlier (Germany), Vortex (South Africa), Rave Exxxperience (Brazil) and the Rainbow Serpent festival (Australia, Motion Notion (Canada). Pied Piper Paul’s love of music and his skills behind the decks have enabled him to travel the world for more than 12 world tours! He’s played in over 21 countries and we’re still counting, from Norway, Taiwan to Japan. His beat mixing and passion for dancing, whilst laying out a musical journey has had crowds sweating puddles on the dance floor, women fainting and grown men screaming!! If been requested to come back to Dj again, is an indication of talent and ability, then the 7 bookings over 12 yrs for Rainbow Serpent or 5 bookings for Vuuv are shinning examples, of many over the years. The largest number of dancers gathered on one dance floor to experience the ecstasy of a Pied Piper Paul Dj set, has been excess of 42000 people at the Zoom Party (www.zoom-party.ch), the after party for the 1.5million people Zurich Street Parade. Finding the time between travels he’s put his knowledge and experience to work in the studio. Having a number of studio partnerships released over 10 years, with the likes of Shiva Chandra, Cosmosis, Magus, Ear Gear, St Jay Pauli and Bitmonix. In the future Paul aims to launch his own solo musical project. Plus expose and promote his other Dj entities “The Piper”, playing a slower Minimal/Techy sound and Dj Loop de Loop - Electro Swing. Paul also enjoys a fine wine and likes to take summer strolls around lakes, also the feel of warm oceans and the taste of Champagne!!
