Caribbean rhythm, the man who drinks beer with pepper sauce. In 2018 he was visiting São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro playing on Mareh stand at MECA Festival, it was awesome. World Disco Edits producer, the mexican Fernando makes his mixes on the same way playing some of his own tracks influenced by African, Latin and psychedelic American Funk like James Brown (who kissed the hand of his dad at a concert in Philadelphia mid 70's). A mystical vibe like the warm Caribbean nights between Tulum, Playa and Cancun, where @the-funk-district resides and spreads his music.

So that was the final night at the Paradise Farage. Sadly the club has had to be closed down, demolished and the site turned into a giant lorry park as a result of Brexit. For our last show, we travelled to Ray Mang's studio and streamed live from deepest East London with Mr Mang himself, a Leftside Wobble guest mix and me. Straight out of Edinburgh, Scotland, Craig Smith (fondly known as 6th Borough Project) is a colossal producer and DJ. Being a stalwart in the scene from a young age led him to make his deejaying debut in 1987 at Edinburgh's legendary club night, The Hooch. It was then that Craig Smith, the DJ, was born. 

Craig Smith's musical influences include boogie, jazz-funk, soul, old-school hip hop, and house. He is renowned for his non-compromising approach towards the music he loves. And relentlessly recognized for playing quality dance music, earning him countless headline international gigs and radio appearances. 

Craig’s recording work has been met with great critical acclaim. He has produced records for various labels such as EMI, Virgin, Hush Hush, In Demand, Maxi, Five20East, and Soul Heaven under his own name. This includes various guises such as Harden Soul Project, The Wayfarers, The Soul Renegades, The Shaw Height Assembly, and more popularly, 6th Borough Project alongside DJ/ Producer extraordinaire, The Revenge. 

His discography includes remixes tracks for Cevin Fisher, Roland Clark, Afro Medusa, Beverly Knight, Soul Providers, Moloko, and the Hong Kong Micros to mention a few. Craig has played alongside countless legends like Mr. Scruff, Black Coffee, Detroit Swindle, Motorcity Drum Ensemble, Bugz in the Attic, Osunlade, MAW, Kerri Chandler, DJ Spinna, Jazzy Jeff, DJ Deep, and Paul Trouble Anderson. Craig Smith with South Africa's Kongisto (Slow Mo Lounge founder) break in the new year with 4 hours of brand-new music, unreleased and household staples, raw disco cuts, nu-disco, soul, as well as some funk. Craig plays the 1st two hours and Kongisto plays the rest.

I had planned to post this in the New Year as this first instalment of Dub Disco Deli (recorded in 2008) has never been on SoundCloud, but I decided to upload it today in memory of Terry Hall. His music didn't just awaken me musically, it ignited my political awareness and educated me about the importance of social justice in a manner that was far more tangible than anything I learnt in the classroom. RIP Terry, your spirit lives on. x
