Despite the artist name and album title, this is far from being the collection of 15 limp, same-y soul ballads you might be fearing! Instead, Secret Soul Society - AKA Neon Heights front man Cal Gibson and friends - serve up veritable sm?rg?sbord of Balearic delights, from the dusty, looped disco-soul of 'Better Get To Know You' and the folksy Laurel Canyon vibes of 'Groovy Coconuts' to the 80s soul redux of 'Find Our Way', the bonkers 'Leeping For Joy' which should appeal to fans of 4hero, Four Tet et al, and the Stevie Nicks-biting 'Stevie Loves Bettye'.

My special guest this week is one of my favourite artists, Monsieur Van Pratt. Hailing from Mexico City, he is a self-taught musician, DJ and producer who is well-respected in the music world. His music brings together the groove of late seventies disco, eighties funk and the catchy vibe of jazz, but reinvented for modern times with elements of modern synths and rhythms of house music. 

As a producer he is prolific, with a huge back catalogue of tracks released on labels such as Tropical Disco, Masterworks Music, Slightly Transformed and Discoweey. He also runs the record label Super Spicy Records, which has gained a reputation for quality releases of funk and disco. 

Last year Monsieur Van Pratt was ranked #54 in the Traxsource Top 100 Nu-Disco artists of 2020.

Debeaufort began collecting records years back and took to DJing which naturally evolved into some class editing bout 3 years ago. Since then he’s taken his fans by storm with releases on Too Slow to Disco, Slightly Transformed, See-Saw and of course my own Discoholics Anonymous today.  Ferdinand always plays it nice and groovy with a natural flair for incredible selections and fine, fine grooves. Hot To The Touch 190221 With Discoholic Ken & Ferdinand Debeaufort On Prime Radio

Black Light Disco rushed through the My House Radio plumbing system with another spectacular showcase resulting in a mountain of bubblicious disco foam!
Fresh from the showers in BLD Towers, our resident Ste Hendry (Esteban) was soaping things up for the first hour of the show with a cluster of fizzy bath bombs and funky loofahs. 

For the second hour of the show we welcomed a very special guest all the way from Ireland - the one and only Doc75!

Doc is an amazingly talented Tune Monger who began DJ’ing back in 1994 and has enjoyed a vibrant musical career ever since. As part of the band ‘Morpheus’, he has gigged at various venues in Northern Ireland including The Arena (Armagh) Kelly’s in Portrush and The Circus in Bainbridge.

Doc’s style and taste these days is a cool blend of house, disco, funk and soul and he can be found on various live streams at ridiculous times of the morning - still playing like he’s only just started. We’re absolutely delighted to have him on for his BLD debut - but be warned, this is gonna tickle your feet and blow a massive raspberry on your belly.
