Techno afficianados Disco of Doom have gifted us with a release of dark and otherworldly tech house that’s both a series of polished and efficient club anthems as much as it a hectic, unhinged portrait of the back alleys of clubs and plagues of the not-too-distant future.

“Invader” starts off the package with a bang, sounding like Zombie Nation driving a rickety Sedan into a lamp post and then stumbling down an empty street at midnight with a broken arm. With a bit of an acid house tinge laced in around its rougher edges, it’s tech-house meets weird-house meets a burning down house in the middle of the suburbs.

Arveene & Misk’s rework of “Invader” sounds like the inside of that burning house, electronics short circuiting and the smoke alarm sending out a perfectly pitched screaming synth warning while smoke fills up everything in front of you. Pitching the vocals up and down while a barrage of wheezing, hazy chords race overtop, it’s destined for big things.

“Doomsday” is filled with schizophrenic stuttering vocal samples, crashing cymbal kicks and squelchy synth stabs that are perching on the cusp of spilling out of the speakers and congealing in a sludgy dark pile in the corner of the club.

Continuing his year of exceptional work, Bowski produces another perfect jam, smoothing out some of the rougher edges and distilling “Doomsday” to its humid essence with a riff that spirals and oscillates around the vocals while a percussive woodblock keeps time above everything. It feels like you’re ascending out of hell on a slightly malfunctioning escalator, dreamy and unsettling at the same time.

“Space 2.0″ is a song about one of those times when you’re wearing sunglasses because anything in daylight feels like it’s going to scorch your retinas straight off your eyeballs..

Finally, “Alice Cooper” likely refers to the period in his career before he started golfing, back when face paint, boa constrictors crawling around your shoulders and a stage show featuring (fake?) public executions were the defining points of Cooper’s character. The track embodies a resurrection of that early 70’s druggy territory, filtered through a satanically possessed MPC. Mason’s “School’s Out” rework may cash in on the cheap thrills of the track’s title, but certainly keeps the vibe of the original pulsating with its echoing drums gaining momentum as they wind through the track.”

Translation Recordings returns to vinyl with a pair remixes from two scene veterans, selected to provide a fresh perspective on the digital catalogue.  Up first, Seba applies his signature style to Furi Anga's 'When Our World Jaded,' where twinkling hi-hats and dreamy pads drift into meticulously chopped breaks, spliced drum edits, and warm bass tones with enough low-end to rattle your chest.  As the track progresses, a filtered reese surges in and out of the arrangement for added bite.  On the flip, Survival revisits Slider &amp; Expose's jazzy 'Hooked' and rolls out a soulful remix with heavy, shuffling drums, deep sub treatment, and a techno midrange that complements the track's more subtle melodic elements to deliver a refreshing and energetic tune for the summer.

Furi Anga - When Our World Jaded (Seba Remix)

Bangla: Magadhan language spoken by the Bengali people; the official language of Bangladesh. 

Bangla: The new release on Discobelle Records from prodigious sewer dwellers Teenage Mutants, stuffed with jacking drums and some obese basslines that would put a crowd of Texan buffet goers to absolute shame. 

Things heat up with title track "Bangla", whose spicy vocal sample is slightly reminiscent of Homework's employment of exuberant yelling from Fissa Tune, the kind of tune that makes you wish you could learn to speak a different language, or at least speak in tongues. Everything stops midtrack for a meditative folk ragaa breakdown, but it doesn't last long, as the track culminates in a sporatic fusion of multicultural colors and lights that will have you reaching for the lasers dancing around on the ceiling no matter where you are. 

The second original track on the EP "Enfants" comes on strong with eardrum punching drums and a rising and falling snyth line that eventually punctures some kind of time / space barrier and goes hurdling through the Universe with a ton of uncontrollable elemental energy radiating off it as it goes careening in and out of vortexes. Maybe the name "Enfants" refers to that gigantic floating baby at the end of "2001: A Space Oddysey"? 

The Coconut Wireless revamp "Bangla" into one of my favorite tech house shotgun blasts of the year, letting the whole thing ride unhinged on the sitar strings, perfectly placed bongo drums and perfectly mixed in handclaps while the cry of "Bangla!" acts as an unexpected punctuation mark to an otherwise unstoppably grooving track, feeling like the unofficial sequel to Disco Dancer's 80's Bollywood dance fusion output. 

Lars Moston adds a hard industrial sheen to Bangla's organic sound, complete with big warehouse buildups and releases, as if he's coated the original in a couple layers of sheet metal. 

Finally, Slap In The Bass inject a nasty, rollicking bassline into "Bangla" then ride it through the back alleys of the Rajshahi Division, adding in some wood block percussion and two hundred percent more elephant noises. If you're able to stand still while listening to it, you're absolutely not human.

Kreayshawn - Go Hard (Valentino Khan Remix)

Glen Brady aka Wool is here with his latest release titled Rock Opera. This is the California-based producer's best work yet and reiterates why he's become synonymous with acid house. The first track "Illuminate" is a deep house track with a steady throbbing beat with synth sounds from outerspace. On first listen to "Rock Opera," it's immediately evident where the name comes from. Soprano operatic vocals arpeggiate up and down over fat basslines come together perfectly to remind us that yes, you can mix  genres and yes it can sound fantastic. "Birth Control" starts with a diminutive smooth as butter beat assisted by the sound of hi-hats and vibrating synths that whisper softly in your ear. This is the track you want to get lost in to the early hours of the morning. 
Leading the pack of remixes is Delect's interpretation of "Illuminate." It comes in with whirring synths that crescendo into telephonic sounds that will send you careening down a dizzying spiral. Next up are three remixes of "Rock Opera" by Reilly Steel, Wax Romeo, and Boyfriend. Reilly Steel taps into raw industrial noises and phone dials. A big bass line and eerie pulsating synths will be sure to get your heart rate pumping. At points it sounds like lasers bouncing off a funhouse of mirrors, flashing disorienting light keeping you the psychedelic trip the track started you off on. Wax Romeo takes a more rhythmic, rock-inspired approach with his remix that comes at you full force.The operatic vocal samples come to the forefront and are sped up, accompanied by growling synths. Finally, Boyfriend's remix is one R&B and hip hop lovers will gravitate towards. Nasty is the only way to describe this track with the BPM turned all the way down to 78.

L.A/SF duo 5kinAndBone5 consists of Matrixxman and Earthman and the pair have already accumulated an impressive output on prolific labels such as Grizzly, Fool's Gold, Mixpak and UTTU. We’re glad to welcome them to the Discobelle Records family. 

On their new release ”Sex Lies & VideoChat” we see the duo moving away from their previous bassier sounds and instead focusing on 5 tracks of beautifully crafted house/techno but of course with their own mysterious, futuristic twist. 

The EP starts out with a foray into dark world of ”Black Matter” where a rhytmic, shuffling, almost ballroom sounding beat starts the track off and then escalates when it meets a siren and a warped vocal which resonates of outer space. 

”Forrest Nymphs” is 7 minute long affair of slow, transgressing techno that takes cues from the classic Detroit sound – but with a 5kinAndBone5 update - incorporating a looped 808 beat that was designed to hypnotize. 

”Niggaz Is Machines” is an eerie, hyped up monster of a track, it twists and slithers but does in fact show no mercy whatsoever at getting the dancefloor up and moving with its infectious synth merging with a solid bass line. 

The thumping beat of ”Matrixxfuck” showcases the duo’s futuristic endeavor when it meets up with a bleeping, spaced out and rolling synthline and a bass so crunchy it will make your laptop vibrate. 

The final track of the EP might be the most accessible, ”Machines Don’t Lie” is a straight uptempo, houseinfused techno track that rounds off the EP in a superb way A steady beat and a synthline that draws you smack into the 5kinAndBone5 universe slowly progresses for the duration of the track, this is the perfect weapon to play at around 4AM when things at the club take a turn for that hands in the air moment.

After releasing tracks on Mental Groove, Southern Fried and Mixmash, collabs with Malente & Kissy Sell Out and remixes for Sebastien Tellier or Acid Washed, LAZY FLOW has been pretty quiet recently on the release level, very busy in the studio working hard on a new sound with musicians and singers from all around the world. A new sound that will be revealed on his first album that will be released by major label Sony Music and Moveltraxx in 2013.

JET-LAG is a collection of unreleased Lazy Flow tracks + brand new remixes by top cats. A kind of appetizer before new singles & album drops.

In 2012, LAZY FLOW produced remixes for Todd Terry, J Paul Getto and Saadi.
