홍대 상수도와 MI 에서 시작한 한국의 언더그라운드 클럽씬이 홍대 전역, 이태원, 강남은 물론 전국 대도시로 확산되면서 폭발적인 발전을 거듭한지도 거의 20년이 됐다. 이제는 세계적인 DJ들이 꼭 거쳐갈만큼 서울도 클러버들이 즐길수 있는 문화도시의 대열에 꼈다. 세계 여느 도시의 클럽발전사를 보면 점점 더 상업적으로 변모해가는 대형클럽형 유행 속에서 음악의 본질을 잃지 않는 양질의 놀거리는 도시의 아이콘으로 부상한다. 지난 20년 가까이 국내 클럽문화를 이끌어온 DJ 연준과 그의 크루들은 서울을 대표하는 클럽을 만들고자 Club MYSTIK에 모였다. 2011년 10월28일 오픈 예정인 MYSTIK에서는 국내에서 접할 수 없었던 음향과 비주얼 시스템은 몰론, 엄선된 Deep House, Tech House를 기반으로 한 정통 사운드를 접할 수 있다. 또 크루들의 세계적인 DJ들과의 협업을 통한 다양한 DJ 파티도 준비중이다.

Combining his skills as a musician and seasoned DJ along with the technical know-how from his work as an audio engineer, the result is a collection of beautifully crafted, hard-hitting house cutz.
‘That Raw’ features a breathy spoken-word vocal from DJ Amir—one half of the legendary duo Kon & Amir—that laces the soulful, deep production with a hypnotic atmosphere. Thick bass bubbles beneath soaring strings and meandering synth arpeggios to give the track a set-building, big-room feel. ‘Do It’ rocks jaunty snatches of piano and sax over its peppy, skippy beat, with a little New Jersey feel in its incessant, phat-bottomed grove. ‘If You Want’ takes us into a deeper direction with its hazy pad work and dubby touches, with a slinky, rubbery bass groove that throbs hard beneath it all. As you might remember, the last keinemusik release has already seen some significant vocal support from friendly countries. Itʼs been a modus operandi, Adam Port is extending quite a bit on his kM018 edition. The friendly country being Leipzig for that matter and input coming courtesy of Here Is Why, the synthy Wave-Pop-moniker of Good Guy Mikesh. It is in fact an almost inevitable cooperation. There have been quite a few partynights, where crossfaders were shared and the Here Is Why sound has been celebrated within the keinemusik camp since day one.

On A1 youʼll find the clubversion of Here Is Whyʼs new single “Our Fate” in an unmistakable Port-ish condition. The beat stoically marching, escalating into a loop-excess, taking in some of the dirt that made Ports last tune “Black Noise” such an irresistible weapon. The lusciously chopped bassline is aiming in but one direction (the floor), the vocalpart evolves from craving in the background to full bloom within the break, until some field recordings and percussive ornaments throw your feet back into this fateful goose-step. A banger, again. 

The flipside consists of the original and the bonustrack “Tonight”. It is Here Is Whyʼs first single-release since their highly recommended full length debut “HRSY”. At the same time, itʼs their first works coming to life in full on band-mode. “Our Fate” is classic Here Is Why-material factoring in catching and heartwarming vocalhooks, gently orchestrated synth-tension and all those knowing 80ies hints. “Tonight” comes along in a way more spaced out mood, riding a wave, that might surge somewhere within the Atlantic and then pour out whether into the black nothing of the Galaxy or a subtly scored dancefloor.
