Moscow based DJ-duo, producers and foremost brothers Simple Symmetry are back on Torture the Artist and deliver the latest art:cast. Sasha and Sergey, how close friends call Simple Symmetry, have left their mark in the electronic music scene With EPs and remixes on labels such Disco Halal, Correspondant, Multi Culti or Keinemusik the duo has delivered some of 2017’s most catchy club tunes and are moreover known for their well-selected DJ-sets Shortly their remix for Moscoman's track 'I Ran' will be released on Disco Halal, which is already causing a buzz. For their art:cast Simple Symmetry chose a rather trippy approach influenced by recurring disco influences, vocals and percussions. While the mix starts off slowly it then turns into a voodoo-ish piece of music that puts a spell on its listener by including deeply rooted vocal samples and tracks.

A celebration of a world without frontiers, and a dreamscape ruled by love, Disco Halal is the cosmic vibration of forever unity.

Years of sweating in garage bands evidently prepared the Lipsky brothers to break boundaries in commercial club culture with a sound that somehow evokes the essence of psych-rock while never sounding out of place alongside certified technoid bangers.

Their musical breadth as producers speaks to their talent as DJs, with a deep passion for record digging that again conveys very specific sensibilities – a love for the exotic, the yearning for transcendence, as well as the rough rebellious energy of punk. They produce dance music from the margins, full of with narrative, melody, and drama. It’s intense, in a good way.* 

Their affiliations to broad-spectrum labels like Multi Culti, Disco Halal and Correspondant might paint some picture of their range, and their stellar remixes for artists like Nicola Cruz, Adam Port, Autarkic and Polo & Pan may have earned them lots of plays,  but their debut LP ‘Sorry, We Did Something Wrong’ is undoubtedly their most ambitious and elaborate statement to date. Drenched in their influences, rich in collabs with a range of artists like Sepultura’s Igor Cavalera and C.A.R., the record is at once ambitious and, as the title suggests, apologetic. Their capacity for embracing these polarities, a radical boldness tempered by self-consciousness, it may divide the audience, but it shows unmistakable personality.

This year, Simple Symmetry start a new chapter both in music and life after fleeing their native Russia, they returned to Multi Culti with an epic, mournful EP called “Problem,” featuring a huge remix by long-time compatriots Red Axes. Another huge edit for CULTED is on deck, as well as a peak-time rework of Drugface, following up on their massive mix of ‘In the Clouds.’
