First influenced by the likes of Soul II Soul, Loose Ends, Mantronix, The Beloved, A Guy Called Gerald, The Fresh Prince, Big Daddy Kane, Douige Fresh, Public Enemy, Tone Loc and Ice T in the late ‘80’s Neil had an early interest in the dance and Hip Hop scene  coupled with listening to the Colin Favour and Colin Dale radio shows, these influences can be still heard now in his music selection.
In early '92 he purchased his first set of turntables and mixer, and was soon playing happy hardcore & rave music at numerous parties. Over the next couple of years the early jungle emerged, Neil's choice of music leaned more to that genre. By 1993 he was deep into the drum & bass scene and with various visits to the legendary Section 5 record shop, amassing a healthy record collection, he began to get bookings, at first it was pirate radio stations such as "Kane fm" "Darkness fm" then various clubs like "Simpsons", "House of Windsor", "Idols". But as the music became harder more aggresive, Neil came full circle, came back to his roots, he started playing "House Music". 
By the end of 1999 Neil had set up a collaboration with another talented DJ called Neil Carr, "Alteregos" had been forged. Since being forged "Alteregos" have been residents for Incrowd Promotions, playing at there Juicy Nights, House.com parties. In 2000 he had then joined the ranks of Soulfulhouse.com and played at their various nights in the south east. By 2001 Neil had various monthly slots at "The Matrix" Reading's south east super club and regular sets at "The Toad in Dairy". In 2002 Neil played at Juice @ The Glasshouse, (London) taking over the decks from the well seasoned Warren Clarke (Lab Rats), Quench @ Warwick, then the legendary Metrogroove @ Turnmills (London), Soundsheavenly @ The Loft, Maidstone. In 2003 Neil held court through most of the summer at The Fez club in Reading. In 2004 Neil set up his own night with Colin "Sneakerbeater" Witt, called "Makoosa" at a club called "Vamps" the night went for three years and had a good local following. 2004 Neil played a guest set at the legendary “Ministry of Sound” playing in the baby box room and also guesting on Umberto Giannini's “Radio Active House Beats Show” on “Ministry of Sound” Radio. Over the next few years Neil played at various local (South East) clubs, Reading's “Mango” and various bars, playing for “SSRadio” events and then finally joining their ranks and hosting his own fortnightly radio show called "The Makoosa Soundscape Show". Over the past few years Neil has had experience playing abroad with various gigs on the white isle, playing at “Es Paradis” Bar, “El Viper” and “Hush”.  In 2009 Neil teamed up with another talented dj called Mark Williams, both re-launching the "Makoosa" club nights, a bi-monthly affair which is going strength to strength and with a guest slot for "Voodoo" @ Reading's award winning club "Mango" supporting nights with Huxley, MK and Kate Lawler. Playing the Lightbox, the Main room with Gregor Salto at “Pacha London”, “Ministry Of Sound” 103 room with Fedde Le Grand Takeover and returning  numerous times to “Pacha” and “Ministry of Sound” for the NightOwl brand.
Neil is a creative and high energised dj who mixes in loops, often looping on the fly thus creating his own re-edits, builds intense mixes and build ups, layering over tracks to merge a more intense and unique soundscape using delays, echoes, filters and many other effects, playing upfront high energy driving house, tech and electronic. Neil’s music ideology is a more upfront underground driving house sound, laydened with tech, electro, afro beats, chunky funky baselines, sexy vocals and hip hop edits which can be heard throughout his dj sets.
