For the second volume of lazed, a mix series thought as a playground for listening music, we're happy to introduce Italian DJ and visual artist Aka Hyoo. Next to Djing in a club setting, the Decadance collective co-owner has always been keen of experimental listening music scenarios. Through his selections, he guides the listener into a blend of cinematic sounds, creating vivid and otherworldly sonic experiences. 

Aka Hyoo: "The introspective silence of John Cage's "4'33''" and Plastic Ono Band's "give peace a chance" samples, set the floor to this melancholic cinematic odyssey, inspired by Jim Jarmusch's Champagne chapter from "Coffee and Cigarettes.” Contrasting emotions intertwine, mixing popular and upbeat sounds with darker, somber moods through sporadic vocals, endless loops, and noisy glitches. It is a personal reflection on the world, crafted to evoke a sense of distance and contemplation."

From now on we will start posting, on our Soundcloud page,  1h mixes from people we admire. First one up is Gonçalo aka @Terzi. To be honest the idea for this series appeared when he wanted to share his set recorded at Outra Cena, so it seems fair to start with him. 3 hours, closing the club, ranging from leftield electronica, UK bass, Detroit techno and housy Photek. Dreamy, pushy and psychedelic.

Really putting the Weird in Weirdos inc. We have long time bristolian oddball wizard friends Escalator To Nowhere. These boys have been playing the slow and strange ever since the inception of now world famous Noods Radio since the days it basically started on a sofa. This is a refreshing none-dance-head-bop-detune-your-ears-look-at-the-wall-and-say-whatthefuckisthat-kinda-mix. Eclectic avant-garde business. Thanks for the mix, and I hope you enjoy as much as I do. Here are some words form the ETN lads:

"We had lots of fun leaning into our weirdo side for this! Basically made a big playlist of all our favourite dumb, silly, wobbly, strange tracks and then Gav fashioned some sort of Spy Kids clay sculpture out of it (that's a reference for the heads). 

There's a few ETN classics in here, like 'O Superman' straight out the blocks and 'Simple Headphone Mind' bringing it home, then the rest of it is a bit of a world-tour of wonkiness, including Indonesian percussion, Austrian gibberish into Kraftwerk, Czechoslovakian synth-pop, a Swiss interlude about a crazy monster killing people at a university (I think?) and then I thought it would be fitting to follow that with Martin Newell's University Challenge parody track and then some Captain Beefheart half-gibberish and then a track with a made-up Deep South "good old boy" talking to his daughter about drag racing which turns into a domestic. Then there's a few slightly more normal tracks but also a Michal Turtle track about condiments and a very wobbly synth tune by Cybe with some swirly bleep bloops that turn into a melody from a famous film which I won't spoil. Then there's another Cleaners From Venus track with an arrestingly beautiful karimba tune bookended with some unsettling mad-hatter's tea party nonsense, then a track made by some 14-year-old Australians about their parents getting divorced that has no business being so good, then hot cross buns into Ivor Cutler singing about bugs, and then another fantastic Japanese track we got from Mr Ho (shout-out Mr Ho). 

The first draft of the mix ended with 'Ealing Hygienic Laundry' by the Wibbley Brothers, but it felt wrong for the melting/powering-down voice saying "milky white" at the end of Simple Headphone Mind to not be the end of the mix. But then it felt wrong to not have any Wibbley Brothers track in the Weirdos mix. Thankfully the opening track from their album "Go Weird" is just a 4-second track called "Weird" in which they just sing the word "Weird!" and it fit perfectly as the finish line."
