Danish producer and DJ Jesper Mygind aka C.M. Art (@jespermygind ) marks a new chapter in his career this September with his debut album ‘Planet Uthboar’, inaugurating his new Uthboar imprint.

Uthboar is being launched to showcase another side of the club music coming out of Copenhagen where Mygind is based, more lo-fi, slower and a bit more experimental, with Planet Uthboar dropping as the first release.

Jesper tells us ‘’I’m very inspired by the whole cassette culture from the late 80’s where mainly experimental artists with a do-it-yourself approach recorded music in their living room and simply released it on tape to the cassette community. For me this shows that music doesn’t have to be that serious and ‘perfect’ all the time, and that you can record interesting music right out of your living room on crappy gear.’’

UTHBOAR : ‘’Planet Uthboar is a conceptual album that takes the listener on a journey to the fictive planet of Uthboar, where two heroes are on a quest to stop the supervillain Art from exterminating every living being on the planet. The album is inspired by old comics and 70’s sci-fi animation movies, so think of a kind of H.G. Wells dark sci-fi style mixed with lo-fi house and electro - all recorded straight to an old dusty cassette recorder!’’

After contributing to the impactful “Shelter Me/Beats For Beds – The Remix Album”, whose proceeds were donated to the NGO Shelter UK, Ian Vale is back on the cool British label Paisley Dark with an EP to call his own. "Like lots of the tracks I’ve produced, “Loft Music” started out in a completely different place to where it eventually ended up”, said Ian. He also declared that the track was "created during the lockdown – it has been tweaked, played, and fine-tuned to what is now the version presented on this release”. He kindly claimed that he feels incredibly honoured to have remixes by some artists he has genuinely admired and looked up to for some time now. He meant Mindbender, Ed Mahon (SXDNS068), Jezebell, and 33rd December plus Duncan Leitch who reworked the bonus track.

Premiered here, Ed Mahon’s interpretation kept the main aura of the original, especially its acid attitude, but added some extra elements such as trippy synth layers, percussive elements, and a Funk-ish/Disco-ish dash. And before you ask: Yes, cowbells were properly added. But maybe not enough? 😉

★ The phenomena of exercise tapes and albums started officially in Yugoslavia in 1983, Jane Fonda’s book was heavily promoted and published in local edition. Famous actress Milena Dravić released Aerobika Sa Milenom Dravić cassette for RTV Ljubljana and Sarajevo choreographer Gordana Magaš released Aerobik Ples: Pokrenimo se malo!. They were classical instructional tapes with voice-over and international disco or chart hits in the playlist . 
★ But Vesna Mimica, who perfected her art with Sylvie Vartan in Paris and Alfi Kabiljo, famous  composer, had more original and serious take on fitness albums in the same year. Cassettes YU Aerobic Br.1 and YU Aerobic Br.2 were released as a series and much more importantly, they did not use international cover songs, but conceptual and original music, intentionally made for fitness and aerobics.
★ For the first time ever, Fox & His Friends Records are releasing original, restored and unpublished instrumental master tapes from the Aerobic sessions, used for the production of Mimica cassettes. The rise of library music appreciation in recent years shows that we are right and more and more hidden gems are being re-discovered and re-evaluated. Such are the selections from the surviving studio masters from the vivid and sporty socialist aerobics era, which we chose to present in their original form without the instructional dubbing and voice-over. 
★ That does not mean we do not like Vesna Mimica’s sporty fitness lines (we do!), but in this completely different instrumental form, which was never released and aired publicly, Alfi Kabiljo’s precise jazz and disco mixture of melodies and beats turns out to be still fresh and dance friendly. You can enjoy this rare treat even more and be your own Vesna Mimica while exercising to it. So, just work it left, right, left, right, left, right and do not forget to breeeathe...!
