"Bucket of Love vol. I" is a compilation of some of Discotexas' best summerish tracks taken from our releases since January 2010. It was also designed to be a business card to new fans and potential buyers as this compilation will be sold at budget price everywhere (Beatport, Juno, iTunes, Amazon...).

DT010 - Discotexas "Bucket of Love Vol. I" (Budget Summer Compilation)

There are times In the carreer of a top international DJ/Producer where things get a little bit out of control. Times when the glitter, the glam and the fame get a little out of hand. Times when the whole "travelling from the hotel to the jet, and from the jet to the 5000 capacity venue via a helicopter made of gold" - thing kinda blurs one's vision of day to day reality. In times like these, it's important for said DJ/Producer to take a step back, return to anonymity and focus on the music that keeps the underground clubs buzzing. The sweaty, dirty, forward-thinking, genre-defying, risk-taking house music that drives the cool kids crazy. That is exactly what the mysterious entity hiding behind GUCCI VUMP is doing with the release of Sha! Shtil!, The Boogiemanand Casablanco on Sound Pellegrino. 

If we wanted to tell you who Gucci Vump was, let's just say we get into some big fat legal trouble with legions of record company people, managers and agents and it would cause an unprecedented diplomatic incident. He is such an important and heavy money-generating figure in the international DJ scene that every piece of information regarding every single one of his release shakes the whole industry up. It's an amazing and exciting thing but we feel that such a media tsunami would turn Sound Pellegrino into a relentless money-making-attention-grabbing-hype-creating machine and ultimately cause more harm than good to the label. The humble little craftsmen of house music that we are much prefer to keep it on the down low. Therefore Gucci Vump's mysterious identity shall not be revealed. 

Evidently there has been a lot of talk and speculation surrounding this release and the identity behind the alias "Gucci Vump". People have not quite nailed it yet and all the names that have been thrown around the internet in the last couple of months have all revealed themselves to be phoney. The mystery remains, and the buzz is growing, as gucci vump appears to be playlisted by more and more VIP DJs from around the globe, leaving people asking "who is this guy and what the hell is a Vump?". Mystery and controversy are one thing but when it comes to the music itself, Gucci Vump delivers. 

Sha! Shtil! was inspired by a traditional Klezmer song telling the story of a Rabbi dancing like a madman to get rid of the demon in him. According to the general feedback we received, from tastemakers to regular weekend clubbers, the track is a smash hit capable of pleasing every dancefloor. People are just too happy to hear that lady sing in Yiddish, and the production is so crisp, it makes it the perfect tool for every dj to turn the techno party into RABBI-DOME VOLUME FIVE. 

Totally in touch with the current interest in local scenes and the merging of fhe folkloric and the futuristic, gucci vump adds a political dimension to the "conceptual sample" game by using bits and pieces from both Jewish (as we heard with Sha! Shtil!) and Arabic traditional music on the same EP. The Boogieman could be the background for a fantasy Indiana Jones pursuit scene in a bazaar that ends up in an indian pit of snakes. And when he received Casablanco Orgasmic instantly described it as "Raï meets UK Funky". The comparison is a little bit "pulling it by the hair" as we say in French, but the tracks are two immense bangers. 

On remix duties we have the man of the moment L-VIS 1990, known for his recent releases on Mad Decent and Dress2Sweat, building anticipation for his forthcoming Sound Pellegrino release Compass/Zahonda by providing a deadly yet classy take on "Sha, Shtil!" including one of the most venimous typhoon-shaped basslines heard in a while. Last but not least, Downtown, one half of star duo Renaissance Man, re-invents The Boogieman as a brilliant dubby tech house odyssey complete with sitar stabs and menacing howling noises, a guaranteed hit on deeper dancefloors.

Under the guise of DyE we nd ‘Taki 183,’ an enigmatic debut Album from Juan de Guillebon; long time bass player to the demanding training of the Parisian electronic scene - Joakim & the Disco, Botox and Maestro. DyE has said of ‘Taki 183’ that it ‘is a personal and progressive urban design’ already popular with artists as diverse as James Murphy, DJ Mehdi, Erol Alkan and James Holden. Sometimes dreamy electro-pop or excessive shoe gaze, and then often introverted dubstep and hallucinogenic nu-disco. On a more Highbrow level, DyE invests several research elds into his music, such as harmonic instrumental radicals and disarticulated cosmic melodies and synthetic songs!!!! But fundamentally what we discover is a journey through DyE’s immediate sphere of in uence, with the rst port of call being his younger self. 
Meet 14 year-old DyE, he is playing guitar in a Tropical Disco band with Malian Musicians, but then leaves to study sound engineering, cello and Electric Bass - precocious at best. Luckily for us he found time to mess himself up by joining a rock band, of sorts, as bass Player for Joakims band around 2005. DyE was 3 years on the road playing every major city around the world and recording on many of Joakims albums. In his own words

DyE is fascinated by the in nity opportunity to be both anonymous and popular from any Place in the World. As a Call and Response to this ‘Golden period’ DyE created a little project called ‘One Week, One Track!’ which saw him upload a new track to MySpace every week.

There must be something in the water in Bordeaux. Something that turns quiet kids into tasteful buttoned-up hooligan technophiles expert in ghetto house and the art of partying till you're brain dead while screaming their trademark "CHUI CHO" from the top of their lungs. First there was Bobmo, then Strip Steve, Djedjotronic and now we present to you the latest graduate from the Bordeaux school of hard knocks: Noob.


Noob grabbed every dance music aficionado's attention when he co-signed (alongside buddy Brodinski) the pumpin house megahit "Peanuts Club" for Turbo Recordings, defining the sound of 2009 and getting plays by every major DJ back when high-pitched synth riffs and tropical riddims ruled the clubs. That was then, this is now, and after delivering a handful of tasty remixes (for none other than heavyweights Tiga, Para One, Style of Eye, Popof) as well as producing the immense "Dinosaurs With Guns" for yours truly,  in early 2011 Noob majestically flipped the script by showing the world his obsession with intricate patterns and melodies through his "Crumble" EP, a very IDM-inspired warped tech house gem on the usually rather techno Form records.


On the night I met him, right after filling in for French partyrock club anthem "shouter" Big Ali (the cambembert-infused french answer to Fatman Scoop) in an Orleans night club, we decided Noob was gonna have his own Sound Pellegrino EP. The "Kiwi" remix and "Dinosaurs with Guns" came along, and the idea started dangerously drifting away as Noob kept pushing back the moment he would play us demos of his own tracks for a release. Then, all of a sudden, more than a year and a half after the promise was made, apparently the planets were aligned and "Spell" and "Protein" appeared in our mailboxes like a ray of light from Mount Olympus on top of which Noob is currently sitting, chillin, like a genius Bordeaux techno villain.


Spell is the huge Sound Pellegrino "choon" everyone was waiting for. A groovy sure shot which combines commanding ferocity and a delicate class in a way reminiscent of Style of Eye's early work, but also hints at Noob's passion for IDM  and mysterious - almost ambient melodies à la Lone, carried by a strong rhythm built on noble electro and house drums, unraveling the most "hands in the air" breakdown since the invention of putting your hands in the air. Incredible crowd reaction on first listen and massive early feedback from our close circle hint at a very big club success for this track.


"Protein" instantly reminded us of early Oizo and Bpitch-era Feadz productions, as well as the the dirty MPC-sounding, analog clashing against digital, grease-dripping electro funk of old favorites Letroset. It's weird, aggro yet minimal, always building up yet never blatantly exploding but rather keeping your feet on the floor for some seriously sweaty dance action. Those who know us well will understand why we are absolutely in love with it to death.


French Clouded Vision affiliate ZHAO transforms "Spell" into a deliciously dark and moody, almost UK Bass-y number evolving quietly into a twisted acid bassline-driven house track bursting with playful noises and voices. Irresistibly weird and groovy, combining garage vibes and dark electro echoes this is a great genre-bending remix in pure Sound Pellegrino tradition. MAELSTROM, another up and coming frenchman (yup: a 100% french EP. Cocorico motherf*ckers!) delivers a heavy dose of his trademark mutant miami bass juice on his "Spell" remix, while keeping the melancholic-yet-hopeful spirit of the OG intact (but with added sex).

"Matasuna Records" kicks off 2021 with another 7inch. This record features two remixes by German DJ and producer "David Hanke" aka "Renegades Of Jazz", for Afro-latin Funk bands "Brownout" and "Jungle Fire". Brownout's remix was first released in 2013 via Paris DJs on a very limited run of 45s and quickly became very sought after. By painstakingly cutting every instrument's individual notes, increasing the tempo and adding in a punchy breakbeat at the end, David turned "Flaximus" into an up-tempo dancefloor hit.

Jungle FIre's song "Comencemos" that appears on the B side is a cover version of Fela Ransome-Kuti's song "Let's Start".David added some more Afrofunk elements to the Jungle Fire version and builds a bridge to the original Fela version with the additional elements. The Jungle Fire remix is previously unreleased and will be available on vinyl for the first time.

"David Hanke" has been linked to "Matasuna Records" since our early days, when he released his "Dem Juju Poets" debut album on Matasuna in 2017. Most recently he delivered a dancefloor-friendly edit of "Mawuli Decker's" "Mololi-Lomko" at the end of 2020, again released on Matasuna. David is constantly producing and surprises regularly with new musical projects, restlessly trying to develop and refine his sound. With his new label, "Bathurst", he created a home for all his electronic music projects. Bathurst follows the notion of not focusing on any formats or genres, but caring more about the electronic music Hanke adores.

Nine-piece band "Brownout" from Austin/Texas, was formed in 2005 by members of the Grammy Award-winning Latin orchestra "Grupo Fantasma" and have since become a musical force of their own. In addition to three Austin Music Awards, the band has performed at countless events and festivals and has regularly toured the U.S. also as highly sought-after backing band for artists like Prince, GZA and many more. Their albums and singles have been released on labels like "Freestyle Records", "Ubiquity" or "Fat Beats".

"Jungle Fire" is an Afrolatin Funk band from Los Angeles known for their authentic and highly explosive sound. They quickly gained attention of the local Los Angeles scene and beyond, which led to their first release on the Funk and Soul label "Colemine". Other releases have been released on "Nacional Records", "Paris DJs" and "Razor N Tape". Their second album "Jambú" debuted at #4 on the Billboard Latin charts in February 2017 which led to numerous features in several movies, commercials and TV shows. They create a unique Afro-Tropical sound by combining West African rhythms with heavy funk elements.

Coupons are a new breed within this australian indie dance scene, calling their style dreamrave: a restless amalgamation of bright textures and toe-tapping percussion. take 8 parts of disco, 4 parts 80's pop and 17 parts of awesome and you'll get the picture. After a number of fine remixes under their belts, "Driving to Your House Party" is their debut release featuring remixes from fellow australian producer/musician Jad and The Ladyboy and two Discotexas in house producers: Xinobi and Moullinex, the latter in collaboration with SymbolOne, introducing their new collaboration moniker, 'Gesso'.
