With each member of Mount Forel hailing from very different corners of the world, including Denver Colorado, Osaka, Dunedin in New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Manchester, Tokyo, and The Wirral, the alternative rock band are a real melting pot of cultural offerings and sounds.

The band have built a reputation for interdisciplinary happening gigs, including one where the audience wore blindfolds during the set at a faded art deco cinema and another where the audience was given individual instructions of what to paint while listening to the band.

Based in Bath, UK, and centred around the songwriting and production of Benjamin Brown, Freddie Yates and Marco Landwehr, The Vacant crafts an introspective yet powerful ethereal sound infused with layers of textural synths, ambient guitars and melodic harmonies. Having met at university the trio were soon joined by Aidan Surgey (drums) and Stephen Williams (bass). The band are influenced by electronic, shoegaze and alternative music, inviting comparisons to the likes of Klangstof, Slowdive and Tame Impala. 

The band prides itself on writing and producing all of its music from their home studio and brought 2019 to a close with the release of ‘What Was I Supposed to Say?’, a six-track EP showcasing The Vacant’s songwriting versatility and maturing sound, featuring raw, guitar-driven singles and sprawling, euphoric soundscapes. 2020 will see them follow up this release with several new singles and live dates in both Bath and Bristol.

Discovery, has been promoting emerging talent to the music Industry and public since 2003. What does it sound like when three people play original tunes on a ukulele, baritone guitar and folding drum kit?

Think you know? Think again.

Palace Waves formed in September 2019 in South East London after two friends reconnected and challenged themselves to do something different.

Soon after an advert was placed for a drummer and within 2 weeks Aaron, Lincoln and Anthony were playing original tunes in the dining room of Aaron’s house.

What this evolved into was a mixture of folk sensibilities, Clash-esque raw energy and laid back funk grooves.

Within a month and a half the first available studio was booked and the trio were recording an EP in a soon to be demolished space that had hosted the likes of The Damned and the Boomtown Rats several decades prior.

After just a few short months together, punctuated by late night rehearsals, endless discussions about hip hop and about 20 original tunes in the pipeline, Palace Waves are about to launch their debut EP and play as many gigs as humanly possible.
