GCM103 - Pete Le Freq 🇬🇧 

Pete started producing over 12 years ago, and made a bit of noise with his house label Llama Farm Recordings. He's been remixed by Jay-J, Eric Kupper and Kenny Summit, appeared on compilations with Joey Negro and LCD Soundsystem, and played alongside the likes of Crazy P, Inland Knights, CagedBaby and a few others.

Since discovering the things he was sampling were better than the things he was making, Pete found that retouching and reworking the originals gave him his producing mojo back, and soon after Alpaca Edits was born.

The York based edits label has since become home to disco superstars such as Dr Packer, Chuggin Edits, and Mannix. He’s been resident DJ at Sotano in York for the last 7 years, and this has fuelled his productions to greater heights. He’s known for playing 5 hour sets that incorporate both his new productions and others versions of serious disco action.

Ep166 - Wahine & Ramosworld - Disco Waltons Sunday Service (21st Jul24)

In the first hour of this show I played a mixed bag of bits I've downloaded reasonably recently. Still having all sorts of computer issues but I've managed to get them on a USB at least. Nice mix of vibes - some quite chilled and balearic stuff building towards a few soulful house numbers. 

I didn't manage to get a guest for hour 2, so I thought why don't I do a mix of my own stuff? So that's what I did - there's 23 of my edits, originals, remixes, rejigs and collabs crammed in! I've seen other people play sets of just their own stuff and honestly never thought I'd be in a position to do so, and you know what? It was a whole lot of fun! From some of my earliest experiments to a new release, it's a festival of Funkier!

Cazonato - Feel It

My first house track I fully produced by myself, without any midi clips or samples, all the elements I composed all the notes and everything in ableton live. 

I started with the house synth pad chords I used one of the synth pads from the arturia plug in for ableton live. 

then I added the first drums which I made a simple "P-ch-P-ch"

then I added in two bass lines which is my favorite part of the song,

then added another drums that had more snares, and a third drums with some bongos/congas/shakers for an organic touch

then composed a second arturia synth and added that in, 

the vocals are mine recorded on my phone (im going to replace them once I buy a better microphone) 

I know this track could be more finished but I am also just excited to share my artistic journey as teaching myself how to produce house music on my own.

Also the backing art is by me- watercolor and marker on paper.

- このミックスの収録場所を教えて下さい。
 
自分のスタジオで録音したよ。PionnerのCDJ２台とDJM600、録音機材は古いYAMAHAのオーディオレコーダーだね。 


- このミックスのコンセプトを教えて下さい。
 
自分の大好きな曲ばかりを詰め込んだミックスだね。いつも心がけてるんだけど、選曲にはバリエーションを持たせて、オーディエンスがダンスフロアで感じるような驚きや楽しみを体験できるように作っているよ。僕はミックスというのは「旅」のようなものだと常に思っていて、今後行われる世界でのツアーでのプレイに思いを馳せながらミックスしたからね。そこに住む人たちに届くように願っているよ、その中にはもちろん日本も含まれているよ。
 

- 近況と最近の活動について教えてください。

今後はアメリカ、欧州各所、中国、そして日本でもツアーの予定があるよ。夏はイビザに滞在して、Hippie Marketのような雑多なところから、Spaceなどの大型のクラブまで、様々な所でプレイをする予定だね。

レーベルワークでは、100%オリジナルのディスコレーベル"File Under Disco"を設立したばかりだから、そこからのリリースが多いと思う。このレーベルからは、Drop Out Orchestra（昨年12月に同レーベルからリリースしたアーティスト）のようなオリジナルのディスコトラックを制作するアーティストの楽曲を、Idjut Boys、Ron Basejam、Pete Herbertを始めとした多くのトップアーティストによるリミックスと合わせてに発表していくつ もりだよ。もちろん"Disco Deviance"や"Tribute"、Pete Herbertとの共同レーベル"Maxi Discs"、レフトフィールドレーベル"Home Taping Is Killing Music"からもリリースしていくけど。"Back To The Balearics "という新たなレーベルも始めるつもりだ。このプロジェクトは僕がイビザ滞在中に影響を受けた、より一層ダウンテンポなグルーブにフォーカスしたもので、若手プロデューサーMaricopaの作品を夏前にリリース予定だね。その他のリリース予定は以下の３作、楽しみにしていて下さい。
