Ep 01 - Cole Kutz - The Disco Waltons Mix Sessions. (11th May 2025)

For the second episode of the new "Mix Sessions," Pete Ellison donned one of his signature Hawaiian shirts, fired up the decks, and lit up the disco lights for a journey through multiple genres.

The new format of the show gives our Waltons a chance to showcase their unique sound over a two hour broadcast. The first hour packed full of glitterball grooves and disco magic, featuring three of his own new productions. The second hour shifted gears into house music, full of beefy basslines and a tougher, more driving vibe.

The session was meant to wrap up after two hours, but the energy was too good to stop. Pete commandeered the airwaves for an impromptu third hour, diving into old skool house classics and bangers from his vinyl days, before rounding off the night with a few funky breakbeat tracks.

Greg ain’t just a DJ; he’s a proper Bobby Dazzler’s of the groove. A seasoned selector, broadcaster, and promoter, after a mercifully short-lived career in up-close magic, he found his true calling in sonic sorcery. He's been behind the decks since the early '90s - from Midlands house nights to legendary London haunts like SW1 and The Cross, plus a three-year residency at the Big Chill Bar. He's the gaffer behind the much-loved Borderline club night in South-West London and a proud member of the Waltons family & co-hosts the award-winning Feel Good Friday Show with Pete Ellison. Gregory is sharp as a butcher’s knife — one minute he’s slicing silky disco  next he’s dropping a deep house cuts  A beefy bassline fatter than your nans special Sunday roast and just peng as yer gramps jellied eels.

"Trying to capture the feeling of summer in the Northeast is tough, the most concise summation I could muster is, "finally here, it's almost over" because honestly thats how it feels up here. (not to mention that by the time I finally ever do a summer mix, it tends to be almost over). That feeling of fleeting warmth and beauty coupled with my city emptying out every summer (byyyye students!) is what I tried to capture in this mix, and for me this is what it sounds like inside my head when I step out of the house and start walking on those first warm days. It's also my attempt to extend the summer feeling a little longer than the weather usually allows us to. It's a funky little 55 minute trip through some disco, cumbia, funk, afrobeat y mas. From Gino Soccio's early productions in Witch Queen to his robotic, Italo-inspired masterpiece "Remember," this 57-minute mix takes a portrait of the disco artist as a young man. Soccio's output abruptly ended in the mid-1980s and Soccio dropped out of public view, but his legend has only grown in recent years. For nearly 3 years, the Disco Waltons Sunday Service has been going out every Sunday 9-11pm (UK time) on NDC Radio. Each week a member of our fam hosts the show and invites an incredible guest to join them. We now have over 100 shows under our belt, with mixes from wonderful guests including heavyweights such as Greg Wilson, Michael Gray, Moplen, Derrick McKenzie, plus many emerging DJs and producers.
