Lorca's last EP on Ben Westbeech's Naked Naked imprint was a split EP consisting of the Mixmag premiered 'Forgive Me Love' and 'Naoko' and both cuts received support from Bonobo, Maya Jane Coles and Pete Tong.

It seems only right then that we premiere the lead track from Sam Cassman's latest EP on Naked Naked and 'Calcutec' is more of the excellent, low-end rumbling same. The track features the tribal-sound that Lorca is floating around and big, bassy synths that tantalise from the off.

Mat Playford continues his run of form with ace new track ‘ISON’. Beginning with a gurgling, snaking 303 and slamming beats, ‘ISON’ soon develops into piano house euphoria — but not
in a cheesy way. A looped old skool piano refrain mesmerisingly carries the track for a minute or two before some amazing, mazy jazz piano tickles the sensibilities. Boogie-woogie scale-traversing freestyling, some dynamite ivory-tinkling not seen on a dance track since ‘Uncertain Smile’ by The The, it totally makes ‘ISON’. Awesome.

But on that solstice day, the orchestra is at its fullest power — a symphonic celebration of light, life, and the joyful height of the sun’s arc.

Liquid Phonk present another truly sophisticated soulful house groover, a fine, timeless release for delicate dancers and music lovers including lush remixes by Henry L & Ingo Sanger and John Gazoo.

Since the turn of the millennium Liquid Phonk has stood for proper house productions. Over many hours of countless studio sessions Mirko Koenig and Patrick Lesser from the South- West of Germany have formed their very own style and sound.
Their first public appearance was on Patrick Lindsey’s former label “School Records” back in 2000 followed by further EPs until 2004.

After it was getting quiet around Mirko and Patrick, they raised Liquid Phonk back to the surface. Rainer Trueby took notice of their releases on Nick Humphrey’s label “Lifted Digital” and managed a split-release alongside the Cologne producer Sello on “Compost Black Label” in 2012 with their track “Heart & Soul”. Several releases and remixes followed on labels such as Ingo Sänger’s “Farside Records”, “Lost My Dog” and “Something Different”. With the “hardboogie-remix” of Shahrokh Dini’s track “Bechno”, Liquid Phonk returned to Compost Black Label in 2015. In 2016 they are starting with their first solo EP on this label, supported by two stunning remixes by Henry L & Ingo Sänger and John Gazoo.

The ​Circular City​ EP sees them return to their own Heist Recordings label for a batch of silky-smooth house tracks that are sure to set any half-decent dancefloor alight. This time Spinna went out of his comfort zone with a deep warehouse journey that works equally well in dark European house clubs or at the Shelter in NYC. ”TB or not TB” got that perfect blend of space darkness, analogue synths and that old school house thump. Initially it’s quite raw and simplistic but the true magic of this track begins halfway in (be patient!). If there ever was a journey track, this is the one!
