What is safety ?

Are you safe? Do you feel safe?
Me?
I don’t know. What is being safe?

Was I ever safe? 

Being safe for me is different.
We are different.

Look at me. What do you see?

I See a black woman, never really had 
Long term stability

That’s why I’m asking you, what is safety?

For me safety embodied not being me
Or being with someone who does not look like me

Because only then, you live in real safety

Is this safe? Is this thinking safe?

You tell me.

Have you ever thought about
What this means to you?

An explanation why you behave the way you do
Chase the way you do
Love the way you do
Move in spaces the way you do

Did it ever occur to you
That you were saving yourself
From something else then you thought you’d
Save yourself from?

I don’t know, or maybe I do.

What is safety ?

An unexpected yet extremely welcome addition to Fortuna’s killer catalog.
