NEPTUNALIA, a festival of Neptune, celebrated at Rome, of which
very little is known. The day on which it was held, was probably the 23rd
of July. The festival was celebrated with games. Respecting the ceremonies
of this festival nothing is known, except that the people used to build
huts of branches and foliage, in which they probably feasted, drank, and
amused themselves.

testing out the more, mmm, mellow? side of the non linear circuits 'digital filter simulator' (DFS)

patch notes: a noodle from sheep caught in the morphagene, which is then multed out to clouds in parasite granular (pitched all the way down) as well as the DFS (which is also being hit with purple + white noise mixed at the second input) + polivoks vcf (bandpass out) combo. this duo is crossfaded between each other and then randomly panned in the stereo field along with a second sheep noodle caught in the modcan cv record, quanta noise  and white noise. modulation spread out across the whole mess via 3 channels of random from batumi and maths ch1 through let's splosh (which is also cross modulating batumi and maths for extra weirdness)

last thing to note i suppose, is the DFS is not receiving a clock at its clock input, but rather using the morphagene loop as its clock due to internal normalization (or so says the panel?) the DFS gets more and more sputtery here the closer the rate knob reaches 0

Cover Versions – Record-edition and installation by Andrew Pekler

For ten days, the gallery Laura Mars Grp. is transformed into a record shop, complete with records in browser bins, recommendations on the walls and a record shop clerk to assist customers. This record shop, however, only sells one record: Cover Versions by Andrew Pekler, each copy of which is packaged in its own individual album cover.

Andrew Pekler selected 300 different covers from cheap second-hand records and, using colorful geometric elements to cover over all titles, performer's names, and label logos, removed traces of the covers' original contexts.

The sunsets, couples in silhouette, alpine panoramas, roses on pianos, faces in close-up, and seascapes no longer serve as the packaging for easy listening, , volksmusik, exotica and light classical. Instead, the romantic, bizarre and intriguingly bland images of the original covers are free to lend their evocative powers to the record of new music they now house.

Likewise, the principle of collage is audible in Andrew Pekler's compositions. The electronically transformed fragments of audio extracted from the original records take on a new existence as Cover Versions.

Cover Versions is a co-production between Andrew Pekler, Laura Mars Grp., Fantôme Verlag and Senufo Editions.

Etrusca 3D is a new band that merges two current Audio and visual artists from the 21st Century, Francesco Cavaliere and Spencer Clark.

The album is the first to be released by Spencer Clark's label Pacific City Discs, as a subsidiary and in collaboration with Discrepant.

Etrusca 3D is the juxtaposition of two imagineers friendship, as Francesco says, 'because I am Etruscan and you (Spencer) are 3D." There is a piece of the future of Etruscan civilization contained within this disc. It is with Spencer's remote viewing of a past and future creative culture and Francesco's birthright that we find a true insinuation of civilizations world body.

We decided to invoke various Etruscan deities or spirits by sampling Francesco's voice uttering their name. We put them inside the Emax 2 3D machine and we began to play these deities and thus incorporate a fresh and ancient music language to present the 21st Century Etruscan experience. In the meantime, these musical stories turned into Francesco's imaginary storytelling style to further present a narrated record of the intuited activities of Etruscan Gods...’’

Vecu è la sola e unica abile a trasferire le parole della creazione dei mondi più alti e più profondi. Curva la realtà negli sguardi degli animali. Il sottosuolo non è scuro non è sabbia bagnata che goccia creando torri. Il sotto suolo è un terreno d’oro coperto da trasparenti cristallini involucri. Delle energie forano il pensiero e le radici strette lo conservano nel corso dei secoli. Non pensate di sbarazzarvi di lei. Vecu vive dietro gli occhi di colui che non sa di esserlo. Sta già cambiando il fuoco col suo sguardo. Nessun vampirismo. Solo un sorriso che non fa ridere ma che annuisce allo sguardo di Dio. Oltre le ciglia del tempo è la personificazione del destino celeste.

Audio works developed as part of Water Bodies exhibition, Catalyst Arts Belfast, August 6th - September 5th 2020.

The sound work for Water Bodies comprises of two main spatialized audio tracks, playing across the exhibition space.  

One of these audio works comprises of manipulated vocal recordings, positioned above the water pools in the exhibition space. These vocal recordings comprise of organised notes on conversations held between the artists over the a series of online calls.  

The other audio work played across the room through two large monitors was composed using various instruments, relating to both body and water. Recordings of wine glasses, each holding different volumes of water, are woven together along with the sounds of pouring water between the glasses. Blowing across bottles of water creates the sound of distant fog horns in the second half of the composition. The piece ends with a series of vocal harmonies, which emerge and disappear in waves, anchored by the comforting whirring of a faraway de-humidifier.  Harmony and unison collapsing and ascending.. Moments of comfort and discomfort.. Of seeking and finding.

"Having long admired the work of Tokyo’s Sapphire Slows, Hidden Harmony Recordings is overjoyed to present her remix of Morita Vargas’ ‘Deysa‘ (from the upcoming release of ‘8’). Dappled with hypnotic murmurs percolating beneath synthesized hand-percussion, ‘Deysa‘ mutates further from Vargas’ elegiac vision, seemingly disappearing down glowing, vine-covered corridors. While sharing the same nocturnal yearnings and rhythmic lushness, Sapphire Slows summons a unique, luminescent dialect, like a prism viewed from a new angle.”
