It was only a matter of time before Steyoyoke’s Dahu lent his sounds and skills to the Steyoyoke Black procession of releases. ‘Sedated’ is a two track EP that creates a whirlpool of undulating emotion and shadowed characters, all presented within the framework of an instrumental monologue.

Uniting a collective of self-perpetuating grooves with a flurry of dark orchestral accents is the EP's title track 'Sedated'. It carries a well defined harshness, which is clearly highlighted through its savvy layers and cunning arrangements. 'Sedated' is one ferocious track that churns and bulges with brutality, earning your utmost respect through bold artistry and stern vigour.

The final track 'Ruin', can be likened to a romantic roller coaster ride. It starts off, edging and creeping with a serendipitous attitude, which quickly dissolves into a free fall of pulsing synth lines, fluid key changes and smouldering basslines. Complete this combination with a gloomy yet graceful melody and the outcome is a balanced synergetic track brimming with star quality.

A few years ago I did a remix of a track by Dominik Eulberg called Sansula, which featured an instrument of the same name. After the release a builder of sansula instruments in the Netherlands was kind enough to give me one as a present in case I wanted to use one again in a live recording, which I have finally got around to doing now with this track!

My process consisted of me sitting in my studio (badly) playing the thumb plucked sansula for quite a while, so that I could go back to the recording and pull out some useable loops as a starting point. I wanted a nice warm analogue chord progression to complement, but more in the high bass and low mids than my usual chord progression that's down really low, to fill the mix with the warmth as much as possible.

The track still needed something though, so I turned to some spare recordings of my favourite vocalist - Kathrin deBoer, from some of our previous recording sessions. I didn't want to go for the usual full lyrical approach of a vocal collab track, I just wanted to add some small snippets of human feeling to round off the track properly.

The release is coming out on Fields on the 1st of December along with an intense synth experiment with a Prophet 08, and beautiful remixes from David August and Throwing Snow.

Championed by the likes of Berlin's Steyoyoke and budding London imprint Bade Records, Dahu has emerged as one of the finest talents we've seen in the deep & tech domain these last twelve months. What's more, he's kicked off 2015 as he finished, in fine form, featuring two productions on Steyoyoke's twelve track album 'Equilibrium'. Today, we've got the lowdown on the release, his plans for 2015 and much more, not to mention a standout hour of deep, brooding techno straight from the Dahu vault. FaltyDL's trusty Blueberry label sets sail with catalogue no. BBR008 under his new Tenant moniker, Not for Press. The opening track sets the tone for the entire six-tracker – a dizzying tyranny of factory-line sounds to elevate listeners to a state of raised heart rates and higher consciousness. It's hard to believe that Falty/Tenant is also a part-time librarian... or maybe it actually makes perfect sense. "Remote Lover" remains incredibly melodious, despite its almost entirely percussive texture (until that unannounced synth euphoria at the 3-minute mark). For that reason, its title couldn't be more accurate.

One that must be handled with care, Not for Press drops on 8th April. Approach with caution.

Marcel Dettmann's debut on the Dekmantel imprint  remixing two Vakula (aka Vedomir) tracks. So, what else to expect but forward thinking techno from the man who has been widely regarded as one of the genres most respected DJs and producers? Keywords are 'stripped, dark, raw, hypnotizing and dystopian' - we could almost say its business as usual from this long-time Berghain-resident who has remixed for Scuba, Modeselektor, Trus'Me and Junior Boys in the past, all the while releasing on zeitgeist-defining labels like Ostgut Ton, Music Man and 50Weapons.

Contemporary techno in optima forma, Dettmann's trademark treatment hits Vedomir's 'Music Suprematism' quite relentlessly here, building on shattered vocals and a seemingly endless full-throttle bassline. His second remix 'Dreams' shows the German is the undisputed master of subtle yet pounding techno. Relying heavily on the bass, the interplanetary funk comes from a hypnotizing deep and dubby synth groove. Classic.

The musical identity of Berlin’s Discrete Circuit is shaped by the creative vibrancy of Berlin and the soul of Detroit, as well as the energy of house and techno in its most timeless form. Originally started as a duo in 2012, Discrete Circuit is now a one-man project by Andreas Horn, who also runs the emerging AWAY parties in Berlin as well as the newly established vinyl label of the same name. Early 2015, DVS1 releases “Incursion” on ‘The Brunette’, a various artists EP on Mistress Recordings. It ends up to be one of thé underground hits of the year and gets crowned in the GROOVE magazine readers poll (‘Best Track Of The Year’ by the readers n° 7 / by DJ’s n° 10). Discrete Circuits comes also out as second in the category ‘Newcomer Of The Year’. By June that same year Delsin Records re-launch their Inertia sub-arm to release the first full EP by Discrete Circuit “Machine Code”. Textured and atmospheric, this EP is one for late night techno loving warehouse crews around the world. Discrete Circuit keeps the tempo going and early 2016 a second full EP “Redial” is brought to life on Mark Broom his Beard Man stamp. With Discrete Circuit the connection between Berlin & Detroit got a new reinforcement.
