Slow Mo Lounge and its founder, Kongisto, are back with another mixtape. It's the 4th mixtape in the series collab for 2024 and this time it features exclusively the South African DJ. 

The project is called Glory Glory Hallelujah - Gospel Disco by Kongisto  ✝️ A spiritually-led musical journey through the archives of Gospel Disco.

South African-born DJ and event curator, Kongisto, started deejaying in his bedroom in 1999 after years of being inspired by soul, funk, disco, kwaito, deep house, nu-disco, slow mo, neo-soul, jazz & nu-jazz, afrobeat, 90s hip-hop and R&B.

Kongisto has worked with global acts like JKriv (Razor-N-Tape), Chuggin Edits, 6th Borough Project, YSE Saint Laur' Ant, Julius Papp, Buzz Compass, DJ Cam, Fingerman, Dave Mathmos, Too Slow to Disco, The Secret Soul Society, Monsieur Van Pratt, Vigi, Hotmood, Dice_NZ, Sunner Soul, P-SOL, Ben Jammin, and Loshmi to name a few. Kongisto has close ties with global slow mo record labels like Discoholics Anonymous, Too Slow to Disco, Hot Digits Music, and the UK's Slightly Transformed Records.

About the mix:

In the mid-70s, gospel artists used disco in an attempt to convert clubbers into believers and, in the process, left behind a heavenly body of work - Alex Needham (Editor of The Guardian, London).

For this unique offering, Kongisto, selects, curates and mixes over an hour of gospel disco from the past to the present day, inspired by his spiritual journey over the years. Love from Diepkloof, Soweto, South Africa 🇿🇦
