Good morning Lars 😊

➢ Tell us what song puts you in a good mood when you wake up in the morning?

 That varies immensely, its rarely anything electronic though, although i have been making a playlist lately, with old classics (in my opinion) with vocals, like Stimming - Close the curtains, Dapayk & Padberg - Island feat. Caro (Nôze Remix)… these really sets my mood at top level :). Or else its more traditional songs and can be anything from Norah Jones to radiohead and everything in between.

➢ Disfunctional Disco is a great name. Tell us the history about how it became your artist alias?

Uffff, that is an old story, to cut it short, we were sitting at an afterparty…..MANY MANY years ago, and in our godlike knowledge mode(as you know you achieve at afterparties), we were trying to redefine the term house music, and my best bid was, thats it basically started out as “Disfunctional Disco”, and it stuck ever since.

➢ You co-manage the label @sofa-beats-1 . Give one piece of advice you have learnt running Sofa Beats to someone who is looking to start their own music label?

DONT DO IT…hahaha, no im kidding. Be sure its not just a vanity project, you have to bring true value to yourself and the artist involved, and by that i mean, get involved, read about rights, royalities and all the boring legal stuff, be professional from the start, that is i think the most important thing…be professional from the start.

➢ Since the pandemic it has been difficult time for the music scene, how has it changed in Denmark and what do you think will be different when things return to a certain “normality”?

Its such a difficult question to answer, in copenhagen the clubs have suffered hard, and have been forced to look into fundraising etc. to survive, thats the biggest impact, that our clubscene is hit really hard, and to be honest its hard to say if they will survive at all. When society opens up(its happening now actually), im not sure we’ll see big changes to be honest, people will take the necessary precautions to get to a party, slowly the restrictions will fade to normal, Pirate parties will reign supreme in the beginning, but i think in a year or so, we will be back to were we were just before the pandemic.

➢ Lastly, regarding this mix you have done for us, can you tell us a little bit of your thought process behind choosing the tracks you chose?

Im spoiled in the promo department, so i always try to put in something i know few people have heard yet, i usually start to collect tracks 2-3 weeks prior to a podcast or mix, then i play around with the material, checking keys and transitions, then i usually get angry cause i think its sound like shit:)….then ill get a few more tracks, maybe even a classic tune, play around some more, until i dance around like a mania…then i know its there :)

Originally Davis indebted to the sound of grunge and punk, the typically rebellious aesthetic of a young life lived on a somewhat isolated island, Davis’ taste headed in a typically more electronic direction over the years, from hard house to experimental and ambient music.

Whether grafting away optimistic years in bands or taking hard-earned moments away from shift work, dedicating late nights and early mornings to his home studio, Davis’ sound has always persevered with a raw, emo- tional quality.

The past few years have seen Davis find deserved acclaim for a string of production and remixes that put those delicate songwriting and production skills centre stage, not only combining a timeless analog touch with a keen ear for the limitless possibilities of modern production, but a power- ful sense of rhythm that will both define and transcend a contemporary dancefloor.

My name is Arjan Toet born in The Netherlands begin 80s. Time of extreme fashions, "big hair", New Wave, punk rock, funk, or preppiesin, I am based in Amsterdam. As a young boy I played and listened to all kinds of music. Dire Straits, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode.... But when my oldest sister came home with the first cassette tape “Turn up the bass Volume 1”, my love with dance and house music started.
I love it when a set becomes a story on its own. With this mindset I started to put music together. The Covid-19 Lockdown gave me the opportunity to work like crazy on my DJ controller. And together with good friend Speurtocht (soundcloud.com/speurtochtmuziek) we started to spin the decks for hours and hours. Being in the lockdown… no time for festival or to party… I started to use SoundCloud to get into peoples mind...

Let's start wonderful weekend with DJ from Texas, USA 🇺🇸, Luisa! Her career began across the border performing at clandestine parties. With over 9 years of experience as a disc jockey, Luisa remains active in her career by booking events that are unique to the region and transcend musical genres. With this in mind, she is able to expose new people to her DJing 􏰁style􏰂. As a DJ, Luisa has worked with brands like Adidas. She has shared platforms with local, national and international DJs such as Hito, DJ Minx, La􏰃aro Casanova, Italoboys, Alex Young, Pirupa, Barbuto and John Acquaviva. As an Live act she has been able to perform alongside Trovarsi, Jungle of Wires, Lis Viegas, making new connections with synth societies across the United States.
In 2015, Luisa debuted her first EP with the Border Beats Recordings Label and secured a collaboration with the Always Moving People Label. You can find some of her music as an independent electronic artist on Beatport and Bandcamp.
In 2017, Luisa and other local DJs founded the weekly party/ DJ crew called `Ask A Freak􏰀 which exposes new audiences to the soul of high-quality House music.
In 2019 Luisa became the podcast manager of the global network female:pressure, a project by electronic artist Electric Indigo. Female Pressure is an international network of female, transgender and non-binary artists in the fields of electronic music and digital arts. A worldwide resource of talent that can be searched for criteria like location, profession, style or name. Babylon Family Series #012 - Omer Tayar

It was now 11 months ago since Lalita The Nymph had arrived in the witch’s forest in Northwestern Europe, after an epic journey of 2 years from the rainforest in Sri Lanka where she grew up.  She had traveled all the way to take up her life-long mission, which is to protect the tiny (3 feet high) oak tree which is destined to live for 1000 years and become the future mother tree of the witch’s forest.  After the arrival of the nymph, the little witch and the other forest dwellers have done their utter best to show their thankfulness towards the nymph and make her self-confined life as pleasant as possible.  A friendly family of badgers had even dug an idyllic pond for Lalita, who was now feeling very comfortable in her new home forest.
And on that beautiful day during the Indian Summer, the nymph had an idea.  She called Ali Ekster - ‘Ali The Magpie’ who has excellent connections with the bazars in the Middle-East - and asked him if he could bring her spices from Sri Lanka.  One week later, Ali returned with a trove of Oriental spices and oils.  After checking the quality of all products, the nymph decided to waste no time and asked Zhanna The Squirrel to collect some firewood, while she herself took a small cauldron, filled it with the crystal clear water from the pond, in which she dissolved a delicate mix of oriental spices.  At that point she realized that she didn’t have any matches to light the fire.  So she dispatched Eddy The Hedgehog to go and ask for a little spark from the little witch.  Of course the girl obliged with a smile and with a gracious hand movement she created a floating light, which gently landed on Eddy’s back (with his long needles, he is the only forest animal who can transport a spark without getting burned).  
A few minutes later, the soothing sound of a crackling fire could be heard while an incredibly sophisticated mix of scents filled the air in the woods.  This drew the attention of many forest animals and birds, and even the little witch became so curious that she decided to visit Lalita and ask what kind of brew she was preparing in her little cauldron.  The nymph explained that she was preparing a special kind of ayurvedic massage oil, following an old secret recipe which has passed for over 2500 years from nymph to nymph.  And she revealed that the little witch would get the honor to receive the very first massage.  Little did she know that the word ‘massage’ sounded way to shallow to describe the incredibly deep soul-healing experience which she was about to undergo.  And while they were waiting for the brew to cool down, the nymph and the witch (and Eddy The Hedgehog) took a refreshing dive in the crystal-clear water of the Nymph’s Pond …
