Darnell Walker is Esalen's artist in residence for Spring 2021. Darnell is a writer and creator of children’s media, as well as a powerful documentary filmmaker - his efforts include 2015’s Seeking Asylum, which explored Black Americans’ desires to escape American tyranny and widespread police violence for safer lands, Outside the House, which focuses on Black mental health, and Set Yourself on Fire, a film about sexual violence, . His work investigates education and revolution, with a strong first-person point of view informed by an inspiring DIY ethic. Together we explored his body of work, modes of creativity, and the kind of change he hopes to affect in the world.

Tiann is a new generation Slovenian psytrance dj and producer. He has been working with music since highschool days, but after visiting his first psytrance party he became very interested into the psychedelic electronics. One year later, he started dj-ing and very soon became a resident dj in club Mizzart (Metelkova, Ljubljana). In the past few years he has been playing beside projects like Hux Flux, Dissociactive, Psilocybian, Phobos Azazel, Kala, Chromatone, Assioma, Ianuaria, Dharma … In 2012 he also became a member of Forestdelic Records. His sets are colored with groovy bass lines flowing from a deeper, not melodic tunes to the morning, brighter psychedelics.

Filippo Temporin es la mente detrás del proyecto Skiller. Nació el 4 de enero de 1998 en una pequeña ciudad de la región de Veneto.

Es baterista desde la infancia y sus preferencias musicales se habían enfocado en la escena del metal y el dubstep.

Ahora está en las vibraciones electrónicas de la música psytrance y su objetivo es traer una nueva forma de producir a través de sus influencias musicales.

El primer equipo que le permitió iniciar esta aventura fue Family Elves y ahora también tiene el sello Pixan Recordings.

Filippo Temporin is the mind behind the project Skiller. Born the 4th January 1998 in a small town of Veneto region.

He is a drummer since the childhood and he had grown his musical preferences into the metal & dubstep scene.

Now he is into the electronic vibrations of the psytrance music and his goal is to bring a new way of producing through his musical inﬂuences.

The ﬁrst crew that allowed him to start this adventure was Family Elves.. and also now he has gotten a label called Pixan Recordings.

This Archive Edition of Voices of Esalen features a talk by the inimitable Terence McKenna, delivered at Esalen in August 1992. For those not familiar with his work, McKenna was the ultimate psychedelic intellectual: an acclaimed ethnobotanist, mystic, and hyper-articulate lecturer, he spoke and wrote fluently about a variety of subjects, including entheogens, shamanism, metaphysics, alchemy, semiotics, technology, futurism, environmentalism, and human consciousness, to name only a few. His rambling brand of wisdom is admittedly sometimes challenging to decrypt, yet his admirers find that a McKenna lecture is always worth the time, and that the wisdom of the words, even those which defy rational understanding, can be absorbed almost osmotically. 

Some of McKenna's notable books include The Invisible Landscape, True Hallucinations, and the Archaic Revival; his brother Dennis McKenna penned a notable memoir of their life together, entitled The Brotherhood of The Screaming Abyss. McKenna enjoyed a long and extraordinarily close association with Esalen and with Big Sur; before his death on April 3rd, 2000, he had been scholar in residence many times and delivered scores of talks which are housed in the Esalen archives. “Politics and Ethos” covers a lot of ground (typical for McKenna), including psychedelic ontologies, modernity, language, reason, religion, freedom, nostalgia and more. Life is a cycle, an infinite path even beyond death. This artwork reflects that idea, we have a cycle of life represented with the birds who are born, live, reproduce and die, but to transform, death is the only  transition. 
Days are an endless cycle and this is represented with the phases of the moon, and the sun, an infinite loop. And finally, fractals, it keeps growing and growing, never stops, just like everything in life, there are endless doors that take us to infinite ways.

Disintegrated Circuits is the psychedelic trance project of Gonza . Gonza was
 born in Portugal and has been into music production as far as he can remember. In 1999 he attended to his first  psy trance party and since then the love for this type of music never ceased. In order to learn how to play this new instrument ( the computer ), Gonza moved to London, where he got an Audio Technology Foundation Degree Diploma at City Of Westminster University. After a few years learning the tricks, Gonza and Bruno ( Module Virus) formed the Ambient Psy Project, Outer Space Creations. After a couple of years playing loads of live shows with this project, Gonza has decided to create a more up tempo project - Disintegrated Circuits. Since then he has been playing extensively  at parties and Festivals all over the world, but more often, you can see him playing at underground squat parties in London. Disintegrated Circuits music varies from night forest tech to twilight full on. He has been releasing various tracks in different labels all over the world and his sets are full of energy and positive wonky trippy sounds that  can definitely disintegrate your circuits So stay tuned for new releases and parties.
