Dear Kiezburn, thank you for another wonderful year 🥰🔥 felt good to be back! A little bit of everything that makes a burn fun: silly stupid nonsense, silly weather, silly 90s dance parties at a sunset, and time connecting with friends and my partner. Short and sweet. ⁠

On a musical note: here's my Kiezburn set recording from Saturday night! Huge thanks to Underworld as always for having me... burn night energy is always super special. I even felt enough trust to play some original tracks (one collaboration with @y.bryan.music and another with @elias.dore), then got to end the set as I often like to with a throwback favorite from my high school years: early 00s trance. I felt comfortable enough to let my inner kid out, sing and dance along like a maniac and not play it “cool” (I mean, where’s the fun in that anyway?)⁠

Next up: two shifts stage managing at #buchtdertraumer ⚓️. Very excited to be part of this team helping behind the scenes at one of my favorite festivals. More on that laterrr:)

Papa Hase's burning berlin story:
Rave culture found me a little bit later, when I was in my early 20s. Since then I’ve always wanted to participate in a Burn… recently, I got my first opportunity when some friends invited my family and me to join them at the Kiez Burn. For me what’s special about raving and burning is the freedom of each individual to express their inner beauty as part of this communal experience we all share. We see people who are ‘quiet’ in their everyday lives find their voice dressing up in a costume and dancing to techno. And we see people who are normally at the center of everything find that it’s okay sometimes to take a step back and drift inside themselves. Trance music was my gateway to this world, particularly the vintage sounds of the 90s and 2000s. When I listen to trance it brings me back to those early experiences I had, back when I first understood how this music and its surroundings could make me feel… and how that feeling could be shared with those around me. It is an honor to share with other burners some of the sounds that to me represent the best of what this community is all about. The dance floor is immortal.

Sascha, also known as '@aemsa', and Sven, alias '@seven_flowers', first played together at Sascha's grandmother's birthday summer garden party in 2017. They immediately knew that this collaboration had a future, and since then, they have played together on numerous occasions, ranging from random events to living rooms and basements. Their primary inspiration stems from their shared love for 'Heideglühen' and the remarkable quality of the house music played at that club. Drawing from this influence, they have embraced classic and occasionally deep house sounds with a touch of funk and disco, despite initially starting from a different angle with downtempo and emotionally charged deep house sounds. Their music style is characterized by happiness and a profound sense of love.

Diskotek Podcast 001 - Seven Flowers b2b Aemsa

In Germany and other Northern European cultures April 30 is traditionally known as Walpurgis Night, a celebration of Spring in which revelers dress up as witches and demons, dance, play loud music, and set off fireworks, which is said to drive the bad winter spirits away.

Broadly speaking, this is where we get the tradition of the Tanz in den Mai or “dance into May”.

This year on Walpurgisnacht, Diskotek and @bulbulberlin teamed up to celebrate the official return of Berlin summer with a night of house and disco grooves. Thank you to guests Babxi and Waves of Pleasure for joining Diskotek residents Blachord and Papa Hase to keep us all moving.
