Intersubjectivity is the creation of shared experience between conscious minds. The exchange of subjective phenomena between two or more people. It is essential to the existence of language and the emergence of social meaning. Intersubjectivity shapes our lives and minds as our lives and minds shape our intersubjective experience. It’s the interchange of thoughts and feelings, both conscious and unconscious, between two subjects - facilitated by empathy. The existence, nature, and meaning of things is not entirely up to the individual but subject to social and linguistic constraints within a culture or subculture. These are the very constraints that filter our apprehension of the world.
