Hellraiser from Helsinki… DJ Sofa is the perfect selector for the first ever 1 More Thing guestmix.

On the radar since I wrote a feature on Finnish drum & bass for Bandcamp in summer 2020, Sofa‘s take on jungle and foundation drum & bass flexes across some of the most important cornerstones of the sound from venomous breakbeat assaults to ludicrously gritty old Bristol flavours.

So far it’s been supported on labels ranging from native stables such as Straight Up Breakbeat, Midnight Sun and Bass = Win to UK imprints such as Natty Dub, Future Retro and Breaking Point DNB.

Plenty more releases are set to drop this year on labels such as Lobster Theramin, Myor and Equal People Records.

I was honoured to be asked by Mantra and Double O to warm up room  1 at Rupture's 16th birthday last month on 19th November, alongside a full line up of some of the best DJ's, MC's and producers in the scene!
It was daunting, to say the least, but I did it and, after a wave of pure anxiety I came off the turntables smiling and proud that I had done a pretty good job! :D
 
It's a little late, but, for those that missed it or couldn't make it, here is my 93/94 all vinyl vibe promo mix that I recorded at home a month before the gig..needless to say I was shitting my pants; of course, I changed a few tunes along the way running up to the gig!
Music is such a HUGE part of my life, I love it and can't live without it. I am so compassionate about music it that it sometimes consumes me, to the point of intense worry that I feel I should stop mixing..but I have turned a corner after Rupture and I have gained that passion again <3

When we thought about adding a Drumfunk set to this mix drop only one man sprung to mind, Manchester's very own Earl Grey.

The producer/dj has spent the last few years gracing the scene with his recognisable funked up and laid back style of Jungle and Drum and Bass, with 
releases on labels such as Inperspective and Hypercharger to name few. 2020 saw the release of highly regarded HY CH AD which features the track 'Blue Rhythm', the opening tune of this mix and a perfect start for our Drumfunk feature mix.

Disrupt Records is a new underground music label brought to you by the team behind The History of Jungle Show (on London's Deja Vu FM). Showcasing unreleased and unexposed artists alongside some of the best known established producers in the scene.

Our first release shines a light on new producer Circa96, with two tracks of contemporary Jungle with a nod to the old skool, plus 2 slamming yet stylistically different remixes from Tim Reaper & Dwarde (Sci Wax, Globex Corp). DRPT002 once again shines a light on a new producer, this time Charly Says, featuring remixes by FFF, Decibella & Ben Kei! Mastered by Beau @ Teneightseven mastering. Last few remaining copies left on this now! 

DRPT003 landed 1st April 2022, featuring DJ Chromz, DJ Stretch (AKO Beatz) & Double-O (Rupture). Taking a more 94/95 vibe on this release with 4 tearing dancefloor tracks which saw support from Dead Man's Chest, Rumbleton, Madcap, Due Diligence & loads more.

DRPT004 landed on 3rd Feb 2023 after a long hiatus! Featuring IJO dropping those 94/95 crunchy hardware sounds, blending the dark and light we love so much. Remix duties from the mighty Equinox (Sci Wax) & Kid Lib (Green Bay Wax).

3rd March 2023 sees Disrupt collaborating with PPJ Recordings featuring 2 slamming new skool tracks from Donnie Murdo on the Disrupt side, with 2 old skool anthems from 12bit Jungle Out There on the PPJ side. Strictly limited edition hand stamped, white label copies on clear or black vinyl.

All Disrupt releases are strictly limited edition vinyl, with sleeve artwork from the ridiculously talented Russell Reed.
