A purveyor of the spectrum’s deeper end, re-known for an ever quality output, we’re pleased to present the 2nd album from Zero T, entitled ‘Golden Section’, coming on Dispatch this Autumn.

Taking its name from a classical mathematic formula (illustrated on the album’s artwork), Zero T explores the science and maths behind beauty; the factors and stimuli that govern our perception of balance, harmony and beauty in nature, art, architecture and composition.

Exploring intrinsic reactions to music and how discerning elements can balance against one another, Zero T ventures into the senses across the album; from the mesmerising nostalgia of ‘Macushla’ and dubbed out roller ‘Everything Must Change’, to dancefloor poised punishers ‘Good For Nothing’ and ‘Wolf Tone’.

Comprised of 13 original tracks, plus two additional bonus tracks, the digital album predominantly features solo jaunts, such as the blissful title track ‘Golden Section‘ and opened by the elegantly arranged ‘Late Nite Movies’, however a few special guests also join the picture, for some more technically focused collaborations.

Utilizing the technical apparatus to investigate a long adopted term, Zero T carefully maps out the indices to deliver a classic, all-encompassing long player that evokes the senses in numerous ways.

We’re proud to welcome Amoss back to Dispatch this October, as they deliver their much anticipated 2nd EP with four brand new tracks, entitled the ‘Shadow Theories EP’.

Displaying the full spectrum of the duo’s sound, the EP also includes their next collaboration with Dutch producer Fre4knc, as well as additional features from Viv May and C.Tivey.

Whether it’s a speaker pulsator for the clubs or a subtly tech-tinged groove, Amoss have an inherent ability to master any vibe they turn to, seemingly effortlessly; delivering music that is aesthetically pleasing to fellow producers, without losing its wider dancefloor appeal.

Old skool breaks, unpredictable percussive switches and an unmistakably infectious hook make up lead track ‘The Wayman Break’, followed by the neck churning ‘Vortice’ with Fre4knc, held by a ruthlessly tight drum pattern, a track displaying pure precision and attention to detail.

Moving smoothly into ‘Stalling Theme’, the EP takes a more harmonic, tranquil direction, accompanied by a blissful blend of Viv May’s vocals and C.Tivey on the keys, before things take a darker turn on the technical stomper ‘Crooked Arm’, as Amoss close off proceedings.

“Leonard was kinda flat out for almost most of the winter of 2011, but for some reason the neck kept twitching. Meanwhile, back over in the UK, that sticky bass creator, Peter Arkaik was in the studio letting out his bad moods and stress relief over the EP project. The poor pink giraffe was almost traumatised by the renegade bassline's floating around on the halftime giraffestep track "Turncoat", so much that the on site veterinary nurse was rushed over to the diffrent HQ to deal with the matter. While in the studio, she noticed Leonard was getting shaken up quite a bit due to Jekyll constantly trying to get busy with Arkaik working to get the collaboration "Vertebrae" finished, while having MCXL throwing down all his toughest lyrics down to lay over the "Headskill" track. All in all, we could cut a long story short, and say this EP has been quite a TRAUMA"

You’ve only got to hear the name of this EP to know that Diffrent are going in dark for 2012.  Following the critically acclaimed ‘Laughing at Clouds’ by Frederic Robinson, Arkaik has stepped up for the next instalment of Diffrent’s distinctively bass heavy take on D&B with four deep, seismic-rupturing tunes. Arkaik has been making noise in the alternative D&B scene since his first release ‘Stress Relief/Second Bass’ dropped last year. With more releases forthcoming on Different, soon to be dropping release on Dispatch Ltd, and support from artists such as Amoss, Fathom Audio, AntTC1, DJ Script, Anile and many more, he’s certain to secure this reputation further.    

True to the Diffrent ethos of not releasing “Soul-less D&B music that has to sell”, this is far from run of the mill jump-up; there is as much food for thought as there is for the club in this EP.  

The title track ‘Trauma’ erupts from dreamy synths into a punchy system-smasher replete with metallic stabs and rolling subs, a perfectly balanced symphony of restrained aggression.  Next up ‘Headskill’ featuring MC XL takes another direction, and the synergy of producer and MC is refreshingly evident in a meticulously arranged D&B assault that promises to ‘make you rush like the finest blow’.   Keeping the momentum, ‘Vertebrae’ ft Jekyll is a massive blend of spinal trauma inducing sub-pressure and razor-sharp technical’s that shimmer out of the menacing bass weight like submerged sonars.  Rounding off the EP is ‘Turncoat’, and here the halfstep feel and multi-faceted, snarling bass oscillations clearly demonstrate Arkaik’s innovative, experimental approach to D&B. Enough said.

For those who don't know their D&B history, Black Sun Empire were one of the first acts to break through the barrier put up by UK artists surrounding the genre. Ever since the days of jungle, drum & bass had been considered British property and woe betide any producer from outside who dared to try and muscle in.

However, with determination and an undeniable weight of talent behind them, the Utrecht-based threesome broke through the ranks. Initially getting picked up by DJ Trace for his infamous DSCi4 imprint at the turn of the millennium it wasn't long before Black Sun Empire were rubbing shoulders with the scene's elite who lapped up their uncompromising, techno-influenced sound.

These days of course it's all very normal to have artists from all corners of the globe representing whatever genre they feel like. And anyone who's got a keen eye for detail will have already noticed that Black Sun Empire have travelled a decade's worth of their drum & bass journey, with three incredible studio albums under their belt already.

Those with an even keener eye will know that it's been three years since the release of 'Endangered Species', the last Black Sun Empire album. In that time the trio enlisted Telemetrik to drop an amazing LP (D&B Album of the Month, Mixmag) on their own label while they took some time to flex their musical muscles in the build up to their latest project, 'Lights And Wires'.

Encompassing that unmistakable BSE sound throughout, 'Lights And Wires' is an accomplished piece of work that simultaneously brings together ten years of drum & bass production while exploring new musical ground. Tracks like 'Extraction' and 'Kempi' (ft. Nymfo) are vintage Black Sun Empire. Rough, rugged and raw, fans of intense D&B will not be disappointed. But it's the experiments into other tempos that display a maturity that only gifted artists can achieve.

'The 405' is an intense journey into a techno-edged dubstep nightmare, a horror movie at 140bpm that is both new ground, yet entirely Black Sun Empire. 'Dirty Friday' juxtaposes wide-open synths with cavernous bass to devastating effect, while tracks like 'Black River Bay' slide effortlessly into blissed-out electronica.

'Lights And Wires' will satisfy any fan of Black Sun Empire's previous work, while opening up a path to new sounds and moods without compromising anything along the way. This is without doubt an album packed with integrity.
