"This mix was recorded in June, around the time of the violent murder of George Floyd, and the associated Black Lives Matter protests, and the Blackout Tuesday movement across the music industry. Those events got me thinking about the history of D&B as Black music, and the legacy of so many Black artists, producers, MCs and singers who have built, touched and energised this music.

With that in mind, I put together a mix where every track is by or features Black artists. It's not designed to be comprehensive or complete, since that would be impossible anyway, nor is it designed to be "the best" or "most influential" music produced by Black artists in D&B; it's a snapshot of the musicians and tracks that have spoken to me over the years, ranging across decades, countries, styles and labels. It's my love letter to this music, and an acknowledgement of the intrinsic link between D&B and Black Culture. I hope you enjoy listening to it."

Hex is a D&B DJ and producer based in Glasgow, best known as one quarter of Symbiosis and the man behind DNB Dojo. His original productions have found widespread support in the underground scene, with releases on Detached Audio, Nurtured Beatz, Black Tuna, Bay 6 and more.

Hex's selections on the decks have seen him appear at Electrikal, Jungle Nation, Rarewave, Liquid Funktion and many more events around Scotland and beyond. With an appreciation for all sounds and vibes, expect the full 360 D&B sound both in the studio and the DJ booth.
