Next up is a DJ with truly unique and innovative music taste – this mix is a testament to that fact demonstrating a broad array of interests and perspectives.

This one is not a traditional presentation of ‘club music’ (whatever that means) by any stretch. What it is is a journey through deep, pensive, haunting, stranger sounds. It’s kaleidoscopic in its approach, tapping in to a mood as much as anything else.

The tracklist which was sent and accompanies the selection is incredibly far reaching and demonstrates a vast wealth of knowledge as dj peanut soundtracks nearly two hours of music.

Originally from Glasgow but presently based in London dj peanut has cut her teeth in both cities, establishing connections through parties and friends.

This is exactly what the ‘shine a light on’ series has always been a representation of – showcasing those unique dj’s who really don’t give a f*ck and continue to focus on pushing things forward and doing their own thing.

The promoter behind Portland's Switch Dance Party and co-founder of Brooklyn's young techno showcase TechTonics, Novail has been hard at work establishing themself in the bi-coastal queer dance scene. Since landing in Brooklyn, Novail has been an active contributor to the underground rave network, working in production with the notorious UNTER party while producing, promoting and supporting a variety of other nights themselves. As a DJ, Novail is active in both the underground techno scene and the queer house scene, curating across a broad range of sonic space between hypnotic environments with dripping, dubby, acidic dimensions and cunty grooves with jacking rhythms and classic elements. Seen behind the decks in places such as Portland's Holocene, NY's Bossa Nova Civic Club, the Chernobyl Warehouse and beyond, Novail is an artist committed to the process of listening, learning, contributing and carrying forward the legacy of those who have come before.

For this mix I wanted to explore a deep, drippy, hypnotic and wet realm of exploration, yearning and mystery, infused with some sass, sexiness and a hint of rebellion. Wading through the murky unknown depths of the day to day with the intention of seeking understanding while being open to change and difference has helped me develop comfort within the unknown and an eagerness to discover. I hope through this mix some of that discovery can be shared with those who listen.

Many lightyears away, a faint signal is received by an unknown entity.  As the transmission took thousands of years to arrive at the distant galaxy, it is now a distorted recollection of the final moments of humanity as a species.  While the purpose and origin of the signal is unclear, it paints a picture of the horrors of the end of a civilization.

For Adam 2, electronic music has always provided an opportunity for self-discovery, creative exploration, and personal liberation. Since 2016, the Vancouver-based producer and DJ has worn multiple hats in the city’s growing scene, fulfilling the roles of promoter, music curator, and co-founder of Techno label PPRZ.  2020 saw the release of featured mixes on Honcho, Techno Hour of Power, and the creation of Afrofuturism is Now – a mix series amplifying the music of Black artists. In 2022/23 Adam 2 maintained their stride sharing the bill with Carlos Souffront, Shanti Celeste, and Objekt, had high profile performances at Basscoast and Domesicle in Montreal and recently released their debut EP ‘Jungle Dreams’ on Toronto based label Model Future.  As Adam 2’s career gains momentum, they continue to build their reputation by transfixing audiences with evocative, experimental techno that intersects dynamic physicality and playful cerebralism.

Her mixes and productions focus on ancestral heartbreak, healing and hope. 

We are so grateful for this submission at such an important time.
