Few artists have shaped the birth and evolution of dance music like Dave Seaman. With a career spanning over three decades, he has left an indelible mark on both the club and pop scenes, crafting unforgettable musical moments that resonate long after their creation. As the inaugural editor of Mixmag, he played a pivotal role in amplifying the voices of a generation swept up in the electronic music revolution. From headlining festivals like Creamfields to collaborating with icons like Kylie Minogue, Pet Shop Boys, David Bowie, New Order, and U2, Seaman has been a constant presence on the global music stage, performing in over 80 countries. 

Seaman's journey began in 1990 at Shelley's in Stoke, where he shared the stage with emerging talents Sasha and Laurent Garnier during the heyday of acid house. Teaming up with producer and friend Steve Anderson, the duo recorded as Brothers In Rhythm, birthing the seminal rave anthem ‘Such A Good Feeling’ which became a UK Top 20 hit, while also issuing the landmark ‘Mixmag Live Volume’ 1 with Carl Cox in 1991 – a release that stands as one of the first ever commercially available mix compilations. Without a doubt, his relationship with Renaissance is one of the most renowned in dance music, with Seaman having contributed 10 mixes to the revered series. Global Underground view the Brit in a similarly lofty light, having secured his services to mix their Melbourne, Buenos Aires, Cape Town & Lithuanian volumes. 

When it comes to labels- Stress Records and Audio Therapy are two defunct imprints that definitely are no strangers to the biggest names in the electronic music worldwide. Today, Dave Seaman’s passion to exhibit boundary-breaking talent is as strong as ever. Via the independent record label Selador Recordings which he co-owns with long-time friend, Steve Parry, his inspired A&R has helped nurture some of the finest groove-merchants in dance music, releasing many different colors of house and techno. The label’s roster speaks for itself, with Hernan Cattaneo, Rodriguez Jr, Robert Owens, Timo Maas, Danny Howells & Hannes Bieger all contributing tracks and remixes recently.
In this current world of limited shelf life, ever-diminishing attention spans, and fast-moving, here-today-gone-tomorrow disposable club culture, it is the mark of true talent and dedication that Dave Seaman is always on the frontline of electronic music.

Playing at Coachella for the first time was a surreal experience. The Do Lab stage, with all the vibrant colors, stood out as one of the most beautiful and inviting space at the festival. But what truly made it special was the incredible vibe: positive, cool, and utterly infectious.

In this set, I mixed a selection of both released tracks and unreleased IDs, and I was aiming to capture and amplify the energy of that unforgettable California day.

If you ask anyone on the playa about DISTRIKT, they immediately smile and say, best day party on the playa! I am proud to be with a kamp of snarky folks who work hard to deliver a full bar 6 days a week and with a music line up that is always on point. I was on the build knew this year and now know a bit more of what it takes to get everything dialed in. A lot of blood, sweat, and middle fingers get this all done. There isn’t room for sensitive Sally’s and that’s why I fit in. I am most grateful for my involvement with DISTRIKT and this year I got to play on my Burnthday, Saturday, September 1st with so many of my awesome friends there with me. The crowd was gathering for my good friend, colleague, and badass DJ Ben Annand and I was ecstatic to follow his flow. I am very happy with this mix and I invite you to enjoy the journey of sounds and moods.

Playing my Saturday closing party set at DISTRIKT is always the highlight of the year for me DJing. While every year is amazing, this year was special, as everything just came together at DISTRIKT. Our brand new stage went off without a hitch, the weather was amazing, we had an incredible group of campers and it all just led to one of my personal best years at BM so far(of the 19 I've been to! ). The music, the people, the sound system and the overall vibe, just incredible. This 3 hour set has some of my favorite tracks of the past year, as well as some fun classics you’ll recognize. 2018 was my first Burn in 11 years and it was so great to be back!  A lot has changed since my very first in 1999 yet a lot stays the same...

For example, on my last trip to BRC in 2007 the best daytime party on the Playa was called the Deep End and in 2018 it was called DISTRIKT - but guess what?  Same party 🙂

I couldn’t help but have fun, and danced straight through Aaron Jacob’s birthday set after.  People really were having way too much fun here, and it was great to participate in that!

Musically this is a deep house set which stays groovy and funky in the daytime heat, notching up energy gradually but staying appropriate to the time.  For my other sets, including Burning Man at night this year, please follow me over to @ben-annand
