We are excited to launch the progressive side of DISTRIKT Sound with none other than our good friend Brian Cid. This two-track EP starts with "Mind Game," a deep musical journey centered around the sincere message of Brian’s good friend, Diego Dorothy. He expresses his new commitment to practicing daily meditation after feeling that, in his own words, "enough is enough”, as he no longer wishes to be trapped in a mind game. Brian explains: “When I received this message on the phone, I felt it needed to be shared with the world, so I decided to create an entire track around it. The haunting-style groove is built with Roland drum machines, accompanied by live electric guitar and Moog synthesizers, all written in a call-and-response style. This track is designed for a big indoor or outdoor space, catered to DISTRIKT Sounds.”

The EP continues with "Aladanza," a very energetic, uplifting minimal progressive track with a forward-moving funky groove. Its big bass lines and funky guitar riffs create an undeniable motion. It’s a big vibe-setter, designed to be played at peak moments. “I was inspired by the summers while living in Berlin, the festive emotions, and the dancing spirit. "Aladanza" means "to go dance."

Premiere: Budakid - Being And Nothingness [Last Night On Earth]

Originated throughout the infamous Covid-era, the "Weak Sleep" EP is the culmination of years of collaboration between Haider Uppal and Nie Wieder Schlafen, resulting in a product that is both distinctive and emotionally resonant.
Haider, an emerging young talent from Pakistan tries to carve a niche for himself within the Deep House & House spheres over the past decade. Hailing from Lahore and having studied in Michigan, Haider was profoundly influenced by the rich House and Techno sounds of Detroit. His journey as a dedicated and passionate craftsman has led him to bridge the gap between his native music scene and the broader Western landscape, undeterred by the geographic and cultural distances from techno hubs of the West. His exceptional skills have not gone unnoticed, with notable achievements including a remix release on the illustrious Ninja Tunes label, while contributing and shaping YokoO's Satya label.
Weak Sleep, Haider Uppal's debut EP on the Berlin-based label Nie Wieder Schlafen, showcases his unique musical vision through three original tracks and four remixes. The originals are imbued with a fluid and nostalgic sound, characterized by textured ambiences and groovy elements that evoke a calm and warm atmosphere. Each track builds a gentle tension that unfolds with a patient, forward-moving energy for the softer dancefloors, underlined by sound reinforcing as well as sound overturning remixes from the likes of Pablo Bolivar, Soela, Thomas Stieler and the label’s own Quatri.
This collection is a testament to Haider's artistic journey, capturing a moment in time that is unlikely to be replicated as he continues to evolve and explore new soundscapes, telling his narrative of perseverance, cultural fusion, and the universal language of rhythm and melody.
